Wondering how the cast of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale feel about Kylie Jenner’s party? NOT GREAT, GUYS.
As a reminder, our girl Kylie inexplicably threw a Handmaid’s Tale-themed party for her best friend
Jordyn Woods Stassie Karanikolaou, and it got a huge amount of backlash online. The party featured the show’s signature red costumes (complete with white bonnets) and Gilead flags as decor, and Kylie even hired a bunch of random actors to cos-play as Marthas and welcome guests.

Obviously, the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale should probably expect to be asked about this event during every single interview they give ’til the end of time—and it’s going down with Bradley Whitford. The actor (who plays Commander Lawrence) was asked about Kylie’s party during a CBS interview, and didn’t even try to pretend he was on board.
“I don’t know… seems a little tacky,” he said. “You know, that costume is so kind of iconic, and it’s interesting how it’s changed from initially a sort of symbol of oppression, to now, as the show is moving ahead to a symbol of resistance. So, yeah, cocktail party seems to sort of dash all that significance.”
Looks like the internet agrees with this take, with tweets ranging from “Women’s bodies get policed on a daily, some states are trying to ban abortion, yet Kylie Jenner thought a Handmaid’s Tale theme party was a good idea” to “Can someone please reassure me that ‘Kylie Jenner’s Handmaid’s Tale–Themed Party’ is a phrase I hallucinated on this festering grease trap of a hellsite.”
Say it with me: YIKES.
