EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt, 53, will enter the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle at a later date this series amid his break from Albert Square. The Ian Beale actor is said to have been “a big target” for producers who believe he will be a huge hit with viewers.

In an exclusive interview with, his former co-star John Partridge, who played Christian Clarke, has revealed how he thinks Adam will cope in Abergele’s Gwrych Castle.

He said: “I think it’s great that he’s having some time to himself to explore new things and have new adventures.

“Adam is resilient, look at him! He gets on that bike and he cycles around the UK.

“He’s on a fit kick right now as well, I think Adam will do just fine, I really do.”

John went on to say that he doesn’t believe his ex co-star has “many phobias”.

“I think he will stick his hand right inside something and not care,” he laughed.

“I think he’ll do really really well. If I was a betting man, I’d have a fiver on the old Woodyatt!”

The Proud Cabaret star also believes a new venture will do Adam good.

The actor has been playing his iconic character Ian since the soap began in 1985.

“I think that’s really healthy to have new experiences,” he said of Adam’s break.

“He has been in that show all that time, he is an original member.

“To maintain that character for all that time, it’s work, hard work.”

Back in May, the actor admitted he didn’t know when he would be returning to the soap.

He announced his hiatus earlier this year and had been playing the leading role of Tom Bryce in Looking Good Dead.

Speaking on The One Show in May, he spilled: “There’s a possibility – and I really hope that does happen – the tour carries on and will run until the early part of next year to pick up the dates we’ve had to postpone because of the lockdown.

“So, if the tour carries on, I’m not going to be back on EastEnders until sometime 2022 at the earliest.”

For now, Adam is gearing up to face challenges on the new I’m A Celebrity series.

In his latest Instagram posts, he hinted he was in isolation after sharing a picture of roast potatoes he had cooked with marmite and a snap of his exercise bike.

He wrote: “Never been a fan of exercise bikes but I’m starting to enjoy it. I miss my #greyp #emtb though.”(sic)

Adam’s camp mates will include; Simon Gregson, David Ginola, Arlene Phillips, Frankie Bridge, Richard Madeley, Matty Lee, Naughty Boy, Snoochie Shy, Danny Miller, Kadeena Cox, Louise Minchin and DJ Locksmith, who is on standby.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns tonight at 9pm.
