Eamonn Holmes appears to confirm move to GB News amid rumours

Eamonn Holmes has seemingly confirmed his new move to GB news after reportedly making the decision to leave This Morning after 15 years.

It was claimed this week that the broadcaster wished to leave This Morning and join the news channel after receiving a rather appealing offer.

Journalist Dawn Neesom addressed the rumours of Eamonn’s TV move by posting a photo on social media of herself posing with the 61-year-old at the talkRadio station – where they both formerly worked together.

‘@EamonnHolmes joining @GBNEWSonline. Wow. So looking forward to working with my lovely, kind & incredibly supportive former @talkRADIO colleague again,” she captioned on Twitter and Instagram.

Eamonn has yet to officially confirm the news himself however he did seem to, by liking Dawn’s tweet.

His exit from This Morning will no doubt hit viewers hard after watching the Irish host helm the show alongside wife Ruth Langsford – who joined as presenter in 1999.

“Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era,” a source told The Mirror.

“He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV. All good things come to an end.”

It has been claimed by The Mirror that wife Ruth is ‘unlikely to remain on the show without Eamonn’, although she will continue to host the panel on ITV’s Loose Women.

GB News launched in the summer and after low ratings compared to its TV competitors, the network must be excited to have such a popular longstanding news presenter supposedly be part of the team.

After only three months on air, chair Andrew Neil quit his position at GB News leaving the channel off to a turbulent start. However, it appears the tide is about to change for the platform with Eamon coming in.

With the rumours surrounding the Irish host’s exit on This Morning, talk has turned to who will be his replacement – with Rochelle Humes listed as frontrunner.

"This Morning know how much viewers love Ruth and Eamonn but they’re all about championing new talent and being more representative," an ITV source told OK!.

"Bosses love Rochelle Humes and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the first person they spoke to about the slot.

"She always impresses when she stands in for Holly and has a great working relationship with the team.

"She’s exactly the sort of person they see as the future of the show."
