Strictly Come Dancing’s Adam Peaty has taken to Instagram to reveal that he was forced to “throw the towel in” during rehearsals today ahead of Saturday’s live show. The Olympic swimmer, 26, told how he was facing one of the “biggest challenges” in the studio while practicing the Jive, which he and Katya Jones are set to perform to Little Bitty Pretty One by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers this weekend.
I had to throw the towel in
In view of his 588,000 followers, the sportsman elaborated on a video that Katya had posted earlier on in the day of him falling in the studio.
Adam said: “If you can see me on that last story that is me literally at the end of today.
“I had to throw the towel in because I just can’t move my -,” Adam started, before cutting himself off.
“On a Jive it’s all about the kick, it’s all about the retraction upwards,” he explained.
The star went on to reveal that he was experiencing trouble with one specific part of his body.
Adam continued: “You want to touch the heel with the bum and I just can’t do that because my leg is refusing to go up.”
Defending his status as a gold medallist, the Strictly contestant branded this the most challenging aspect of the show yet.
“And I know I’m an Olympian, I should be fit, I should be all this,” he went on.
“But this is literally like, this is one of the biggest challenges yet in terms of physical challenge.”
Adam added that he was still loving his Strictly experience, despite struggling with his dance moves this week.
“And I’m enjoying it, I’m loving it, of course I am, but it’s extremely, extremely hard, so I’m in the ice bath now trying to get less sore basically,” he shared.
In his following Stories Adam revealed that he was wearing a leg compression suit, admitting that he hadn’t used one since the Olympics.
Earlier today, Adam’s professional dance partner Katya shared a clip of the duo rehearsing the Jive ahead of Saturday’s live show.
However, a few seconds into the routine, Adam fell to the floor while clutching his leg.
Katya captioned the clip: “Man down”.
On the floor, Adam could be heard yelling in pain while gripping his leg.
Katya wrote: “For those who think that this dancing thing is easy, it ain’t”, while tagging the sports star.
Last week saw Adam and Katya finish in sixth place on the leaderboard.
The couple scored 29 points for their Viennese Waltz and won the dance-off against Judi Love and Graziano Di Prima.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
