The film adaptation of the best-selling novel Where the Crawdads Sing has added rising stars Harris Dickinson and Taylor John Smith to the cast.
Deadline reports that the two actors “were among a slew of talent vying for the male leads in the film.”
The film will take place “in the mid-20th century South and centers on Kya (Normal People‘s Daisy Edgar-Jones), a young woman who is abandoned by her family and has to raise herself all alone in the marshes outside of her small town. However, when her former boyfriend is found dead, Kya is thrust into the spotlight, instantly branded by the local townspeople and law enforcement as the prime suspect for his murder.”
You might recognize Harris from his first big role in Beach Rats, which is streaming now on Hulu, or from Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. He will next be seen in The King’s Man.
Taylor is best known for his roles in the HBO limited series Sharp Objects and in the movie The Outpost, which is streaming now on Netflix. His new movie Shadow in the Cloud was just released on VOD.
