The former model’s relatives confirmed she had cancelled her upcoming appearance for health reasons.
They said she “suffered a minor stroke a few days ago”.
The actress is now said to be doing well.
Jane was set to appear at the festival later on this week to discuss Jane by Charlotte.
The documentary is about the actresses life, made by her daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg.
The beloved actress has made a number of public appearances this summer, appearing in good health.
She walked the red carpet at Cannes in July, and was pictured at Francofolies music festival in La Rochelle.
Jane also attended the Angouleme French-Speaking Film Festival in France with her daughter Charlotte last month.
Jane shot to fame in France with the release of her song Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus, a duet recorded with her then-boyfriend Serge Gainsbourg in 1968.
The couple met on set of the film Slogan.
The song was banned in several countries and denounced by the Vatican for its suggested sexual content.
Jane and Serge remained together for 12 years and had their daughter, Charlotte.
Her most recent musical endeavours include 2017’s Birkin/Gainsbourg: Le Symphonique.
This features a collection of songs Serge had written for her during their relationship.
Her acting roles have included films such as the 1966 classic Blow Up, as well as Death on the Nile and Evil Under the Sun.
The actresses name is widely due to it being the inspiration for the coveted Hermes Birkin bag.
The designer’s chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas created the bag for her when she complained on a flight about being unable to find a bag for the weekend that she liked.
These bags are now amongst the most valuable in fashion, with prices up to £361,000.
However, Jane confessed in 2017 that she rarely uses the bag herself anymore.
The screenings of Jane by Charlotte will still go ahead as planned.
