Neil Jones, 39, has revealed his uncertainty over whether he will have a celebrity partner in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. The ballroom star was paired with Alex Scott in 2019, but did not have a partner during the 2020 season.
Neil has appeared on Strictly since 2016 and has shared how he “does not know” whether he will be dancing alongside a showbiz name this year.
However, the BBC dancer said he still “loves” working on the show regardless of his role.
Speaking on if producers had hinted he would have a partner in the contest this year, Neil told Express.co.uk: “We don’t know yet and it’d be nice, you know, either way, they know me, because I love working with the show.
“It’s one of these things. I always want to keep working with the show, as long as I enjoy it.
“So whether I have a partner or don’t have a partner, it doesn’t matter,” he added.
Neil explained how because the show has a big variety of professional dancers at the moment, it is much easier to match celebrities up with a suitable partner.
He continued: “Once they have booked all the celebrities, then they start looking at all the pros.
“Because they’ve got such a big variety of pros there now that they can kind of say, ‘Okay, this pro will work with this celebrity, height-wise, age wise’. So I leave it down to them.”
Neil debuted in Strictly Come Dancing in series 14 alongside wife at the time Katya Jones.
He was not partnered with a celebrity, but participated in group dances and was on standby for any female celebrity whose partner was unable to dance, though this did not happen.
Female dancer Chloe Hewitt performed the same role.
Neil has also appeared in the Children in Need 2016 Strictly Come Dancing special, where he was partnered with Hollie Webb.

The star shared how his rise to fame also coincided with him receiving some negative remarks online from followers who try to “get attention”.
Opening up on nasty social media comments, he divulged: “You start realising it over time that a lot of the people that are doing that, it’s purely because they can hide behind the computer so they can just say something and disappear.”
However, he is fiercely protective of his Strictly co-stars and has already had a conversation with newcomer Jowita Przystal about what to expect when she begins appearing later this year.
He shared: “I am insane with some of the new pros and Jowita is one of my friends with Michael (Danilczuk), we have our own podcast together.
“I just said to her like, ‘Look, with anything you get, just ignore it. If you don’t know people, just ignore it, because that’s how you’re going to get stuff like that’.”
Neil has also co-created a new dance to celebrate public space in his neighbourhood, Wembley Park.
The TV personality has created a catchy routine with TikTok stars Marlon “Swoosh” Wallen and Kieran Lai, entitled #TheOlympicStep.
