Cliff Richard appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Friday when he was asked by news correspondent Ross King on what he made of all the success he’s had over the past 60 years.

To date, the 81-year-old has released a whopping 45 records, with his latest project, Music… The Air That I Breathe peaking at No. 3 on the official UK albums chart in October 2020.

I don’t understand it; I have no idea how I can still be here

Ross brought up a report which claimed that Prince William and Prince Harry were big fans of the singer, whose music would often get played on their morning car ride to school.

When asked how it felt to have touched as many people as he has, which seemingly included the Royal Family, Cliff described it as “luck, in a way”.

“I don’t understand it; I have no idea how I can still be here,” he continued.

Thanks to hits including Ocean Deep, The Young Ones and We Don’t Talk Anymore, Cliff has sold over 250 million records worldwide, which makes him one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

In the United Kingdom alone, he’s sold a whopping 21.5 million singles, subsequently ranking him as the third-top selling artist in the country, behind Elvis Presley and the Beatles.

More than 130 singles and albums from the Remember Me star have cracked the UK Top 20 since Cliff’s rise to fame in the late 1950s.

In 1984, Cliff was featured on the charity single Do They Know It’s Christmas?, which remains his biggest hit, skyrocketing to No.1 in countries including the UK, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, and Australia, to name a few.

The song sold over 11 million copies globally and has since been covered by a handful of singers.

Meanwhile, in the same interview on Lorraine, Cliff was asked about recently posing shirtless in a swimming pool, despite having previously said he wouldn’t share such photos with fans again.

“Lorraine Kelly CBE was interviewing you and you said, ‘No more topless photographs.'”, David recalled.

Cliff responded, saying: “I am not stripping off my shirt anymore, it’s too late.”

Ross had to remind the Summer Holiday hitmaker of a recent topless photo he had shared to the public for his latest calendar, to which Cliff replied: “You can’t swim with a shirt on.

“So I had a picture taken where I was up to my shoulders in water and I had a rum punch in my hand.”

Earlier this week, the Official Sir Cliff Richard 2022 Calendar became yet another best-seller for the chart-topper, according to the Mirror.

August shows Cliff wearing nothing but his blue swimming trunks while holding his glass to the camera as he puts on a big smile inside the pool.

The calendar is believed to have been primarily shot in New York, with one picture showing Cliff in Barbados, where he owns a luxury getaway home.

“The Calendar was shot in NYC earlier in 2021, with one additional image taken in Barbados,” a statement from Cliff’s rep revealed.

“Given the global pandemic, formal plans for the annual Calendar shoot were changed to a more journalistic viewpoint of a Brit in USA finding picturesque spots within the environs of Central Park and nearby.

“Sir Cliff loved the informality of the shoot and was able to direct the creative himself.”

Cliff will be appearing on the special The Christmas King tonight at 8pm.
