One of Peggy Lipton’s daughters is breaking her silence on her mother’s death, nearly a month after “The Mod Squad” and “Twin Peaks” actress died of cancer at age 72.
Kidada Jones, the daughter of Quincy Jones and older sister of “Parks and Recreation” actress Rashida Jones, took to Instagram Sunday with an emotional tribute.
Sharing a childhood picture of herself snuggled up to Lipton, Jones wrote that their mother-daughter bond “knows no beginning and no end.”
“My precious Mommy? Our love existed before we did. We were a constant prayer in each other’s hearts that manifested on this material plane,” Jones wrote. “Although my being aches deeply for your physical presence, I pray you are enveloped in that infinite space of knowing and love.”

Jones called Lipton her “north star,” adding that she will always be “the light of my life.”
“I will FOREVER savor the privilege and good fortune of being your daughter. I will never not miss you. I will slowly learn to live without the piece of me that left with you on May 11th,” Jones wrote.
She included a quote from Washington Irving: “There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.”

Kidada, 45, and Rashida Jones, 43, confirmed that Lipton died of cancer on May 11 in a statement. “She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her,” the statement added.
Shortly after Lipton’s death, Quincy Jones paid tribute to his ex-wife.
“There is absolutely no combination of words that can express the sadness I feel after losing my beloved Peggy Lipton,” he wrote. “My wife of 14 years. We shared many, many beautiful memories, & most importantly, we share two incredible daughters… Pie (Kidada) and Doonkie (Rashida).”
Quincy continued, “Regardless of the paths that our lives took us on, I can say with the utmost certainty, that love is eternal.”
Rashida Jones has maintained a low profile on social media since Lipton’s death.
