Piers Morgan slams Strictly Come Dancing final in scathing tweet as fans are left in tears

Saturday night marked the Strictly Come Dancing final, and Piers Morgan has taken aim at the show after fans shed tears over it.

Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice were crowned the winners of Strictly Come Dancing 2021 on Saturday night as they took home the Glitterball trophy.

During the final, John Whaite and Johannes Radebe and EastEnders star Rose, 27, and Giovanni, 31, took to the dance floor one last time in a bid to be crowned the champions.

And while many across the country were left tearful while watching the beautiful performances, it appears TV presenter Piers Morgan wasn't on board.

The 56 year old wrote: "Tuned into Strictly for the first time in years and everyone’s crying because everyone’s so perfect. Sorry, but…" adding a sick face emoji.

Piers' fans had something to say, with one writing: "Isn't it nice in these troubled times to actually have something that is so beautiful!"

A second said: "Perhaps if you had paid a bit more attention you will see how the programme has educated people on disability and sexuality."

A third added: "I'll take watching sop strictly perfection tonight Piers. We are currently living in a world of hate, anger & to be frank it's s**t.

"It's taken peoples minds off this pandemic for a couple of hours."

Someone else told Piers to "watch a different channel," instead of "criticising those more talented than you."

Another added: "I agree. I'm a fan of #strictly but this is too offing much."

Rose, who is the first deaf contestant to take part in Strictly, and Giovanni were left in tears after the results were announced as they celebrated in the BBC studio.

Talking about being crowned the winners, Giovanni said: "Incredible, incredible. I have to say thank you to this beautiful young lady who made all my dreams come true."

The pro dancer then broke down in tears as he continued: "You became the best dancer, the best team mate I could ask for. You are a dream Rose, you really are a dream. So thank you for everything, thank you!"

While Rose sweetly added: "I just wanted to say, you are so amazing. You pushed me to believe in myself more than I believe in myself. You are an incredible teacher and not just that, you are a wonderful friend.

"We've gone through a lot and I just want you to know… no matter what happens, no matter how busy we get, I just want you to know… you've always got a piece of my heart. You really do."
