Rihanna Will Be a Featured Designer at the Met

Your underwear might now be museum quality. That’s because today, Robyn Rihanna Fenty became the first pop star to have her design work exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (unless you count Andy Warhol as a pop star, which is fair, but a slightly different conversation).

Our Lady of Everything has two pieces on display at the Met’s new exhibition, titled “In America: A Lexicon of American Fashion.” Along with her Savage Not Sorry Lace Bodysuit with geometric thread work, she’s also exhibiting her Commitment Issues Fishnet Body Stocking—which is ironic, considering the pieces are now part of the nearly 150-year-old art institution’s permanent collection.

The news of Rih’s inclusion in the museum’s latest exhibition comes as the “Don’t Stop the Music” singer announces that she’s hosting the 2021 Met Gala’s official after-party. “If you planning a MET Ball after party…don’t,” she shared on social, graciously giving fair warning that her post-gala soirée is the one not to miss.

Year after year, Rihanna is one of the most anticipated celebrity guests at the annual gala, consistently raising the sartorial bar with her daring ensembles. Some of her most memorable Met Gala moments include her walking the famed steps in stunning creations by Alexander McQueen, Guo Pei, Stella McCartney, and more.

Want to be part of fashion history? The very same bodysuit on display at the Met is available on Amazon right now. Yes, really.
