We all know that Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams are real life BFFs, proving their friendship through amazing Ned Stark impressions and getting high in bathtubs.
Well, it turns out they were so close on set that crew members thought they were actually a couple – and they liked to play into that speculation, too.
“We fully knew about it, we played into it,” she told Conan. “So on the set we would kind of do the scene then try and kiss each other in the middle of the scene and see if anyone would react.

“And its Game of Thrones so incest is so normal that they were like, ‘alright, that’s fine’. It was probably the most tame thing that happened on the show, actually.”
Asked whether they wanted to get it out as a joke, Turner then admitted: “Yeah… sometimes you just wanna make out with your best friend.”
While the pair are very close, Turner recently admitted that their friendship could be “destructive” while filming the HBO series.
“I have a friend, Maisie, who was on the show with me, she’s just a year younger than me and she and I were growing up together,” she said on Dr Phil’s Phil in the Blanks podcast. “She was my best friend, and she was the only one I really told about all of it.
“Maisie and I used to do it [stay inside] together. I think being friends with each other was quite destructive because we were going through the same thing.
“We used to get home from set, go to a Tesco across the road, a little supermarket, and just buy food. We’d go back to our room and eat it in bed. We never socialized for a couple of years. We didn’t socialize with anyone but ourselves.”
