Brian May, 74, has briefed his fans on his life with Covid, nine days after testing positive. The Queen guitarist shared a photo of a positive lateral flow test on Instagram and told his fans that he “can still feel” the virus taking its toll on his body.

He penned to his 2.9 million followers: “Day 9. Well, that ‘T’ line looks quite faint – and it took all of the prescribed 30 mins to develop.

“But the instructions say this is still a positive result. Not that I would be going out anywhere at this point anyway.

“It’s a reminder that the beast is still in my body. I can still feel it, too. Congestion, snuffles, slightly dizzy head. And it’s not too late for the thing to kick back at me.

“But otherwise, OK today. I wonder how long it will take me to get a negative result.”

Brian added that he isn’t sure which variant he had contracted, and says this has made him “very suspicious of the accuracy of the daily stats on infections”.

However, he says it’s a “fair assumption” that he came down with Omicron as “informed friends” told him the variant spreads faster but “is much less of a killer”.

He concluded that despite his hardship, the pandemic had taught him a valuable lesson.

He wrote: “It has to be said that this whole pandemic has taught us a thing or two as far as behaving sensibly in the face of such pervasive pathogens. Right? Stay home!”

Brian received plenty of support from his concerned followers who thanked him for keeping them in the loop.

User @darlingbrianmay wrote: “Thanks for keeping us updated! I’m glad you’re already feeling better. Loads of love to you and Anita.”

@marcellarodrigues echoed: “I’m rooting for your recovery Bri.”

And Maria penned: “Thank you for keeping us updated on the progression of your illness and recovery, Brian. Still sending positive vibes to you and Anita!”

Brian revealed he had tested positive on Saturday after he and his wife, Anita Dobson, 72, went to a friend’s birthday lunch.

He’s said his battle with the virus has been “truly horrible” and has urged his fans to protect themselves and get vaccinated.

The musician has had all three Pfizer jabs and hails this as the reason he hasn’t been more ill with Covid.

In a separate video, Brian implored: “I beg you to go and get jabbed if you haven’t done already. Because you really need the help.

“I lost one of my very best friends to Covid, very early on, in six days it killed him. Could have done me in the last six days but it didn’t because I’ve been jabbed.

“I despair seeing these people protesting against the vaccine… Jesus Christ guys, our parents fought through wars and had their civil rights taken away.

“All anyone’s asking is for you to play your part to try and unite against this invader, and it is a nasty thing.”

Brian has also said he made the “wrong decision” in going to the birthday lunch, where he believes he caught Covid.

The guitarist believed he was in a “safe bubble” where everyone was triple jabbed, so nobody wore masks.

He issued a plea to the public saying that the virus is like the “worst flu you can imagine” and that everyone should be cautious.
