TOWIE star Mick Norcross was found hanged as inquest into his death opens

Mick Norcross was found hanged in the basement of his home in Bulphan, Essex, an inquest has heard.

The 57 year old tragically passed away last month after sending an emotional final tweet.

His cause of death was given as suspension by ligature at the inquest held at Chelmsford Coroner's Court in Essex on Wednesday.

Essex Police were called to the former The Only Way Is Essex star's address at 3:15pm on 21 January.

In a statement at the time, a spokesperson said: "Sadly, a man inside was pronounced dead. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A source revealed to OK! at the time that "there were lots of ambulances outside [Mick’s] house," adding: "If this is true, it’s so sad."

On the day of his death, the former Sugar Hut owner tweeted to his 513,000 followers: "At the end remind yourself that you did the best you could. And that is good enough."

Many of the reality stars former co-stars quickly broke their silence on the news, with Mario Falcone declaring he was "shocked and heartbroken."

Mick made his name as the owner of TOWIE's famous nightclub Sugar Hut and dated a string of Essex beauties including Gemma Collins, Chloe Sims and Maria Fowler.

He went on to become a property developer after leaving the show in 2013. He enjoyed life as doting Grandad to son Kirk's son Harry and daughter Violett.

As well as Kirk, Mick is survived by another son called Daniel.

It was reported shortly after his passing that TOWIE stars have been offered bereavement counselling to help them cope with the heartbreaking death.

Telly bosses are concerned about the impact the news could have on the stars past and present – and have called them all to offer the best support possible.

The welfare check comes after a series of issues linked to other high profile ITV shows.
