Angry customers claim supermarkets have 'ruined' Christmas due to bizarre substitutions and cancelled deliveries

ANGRY shoppers have claimed supermarkets like Asda and Tesco have 'ruined Christmas' this year.

It's all because their online orders are beginning to arrive with all the essentials missing, including the turkey -or worse, they're not even arriving at all.

Some have claimed the stores successfully "ruined the big day before it’s even arrived" and some jibed that the situation had even made their kids cry, all caught up in the emotional affair.

Getting a delivery around Christmas time is always a struggle as the demand skyrockets.

This year was no different, as hundreds of thousands queued for online slots back in November, in the hopes of getting their turkeys delivered to the house in time, with minimal faff.

If anything, it's been made even harder this year with the threats of strike action that were lined up to happen at supermarkets around the busiest time too.

That only made shoppers more determined to plan ahead and make sure they secured their slot.

So to their disappointment, they've been left with unfulfilling orders and it's left customers fuming at what has landed on their doorstep.

One Asda shopper is missing the main event of her roast dinner, and she's not happy about it.

She said: "What is the actual point in booking your Christmas delivery in advance if you're then going to SUBSTITUTE THE TURKEY?!

"I'm so angry right now. So thanks, you just ruined Christmas."

It seemed Asda was having an issue getting birds to Brits as another had the exact same problem.

They said: "Made an Asda delivery appointment for all our Christmas shopping so we wouldn’t have to worry, and they’ve substituted our turkey and gammon – like excuse me that is the main thing?"

Yet another Asda shopper had their delivery axed all together.

They said: "Pretty rubbish customer service tonight from Asda. My delivery didn’t arrive because ‘the driver got the address wrong and cancelled the order’."

Another, who ordered with Sainsbury's was missing multiple items in their order, and with less than 48 hours to go until Christmas dinner is to be served, there's no time for a plan B.

They said: "So disappointed, you released delivery slots weeks ago. I booked one as I’m an NHS worker and knew I’d be working.

"You’ve barely anything in stock I ordered and I’ve no time to get anything else.

"Well done Sainsbury's. You ruined my big day before it’s even arrived."

But those who've left stocking up to the last minute, are making the mad dash to the shops this week, and they've been met with the same fury.

Shoppers have been greeted with empty shelves and barren stock, particularly in Tesco stores.

One said: "Just been in Tesco. Every shelf empty. Every single one.

"Kids crying. Christmas ruined."

Some were mad that they couldn't stock up on their favourite festive tipples.

One said: "The only reason I got up and came to Tesco with my mam was to get champagne coupes and there’s NONE, Christmas is ruined."

Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's have been approached for comment.
