My daughter won't listen to my pleas to leave her abusive partner | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER watching me suffer in an abusive relationship for years, I’d hoped my daughter would avoid anything similar.

But, sadly, it seems she’s in the exact same situation.

She’s 27 and has been with her partner, 34, for three years. I’m her 54-year-old mum.

While he doesn’t get physical with her, he’s abusive in so many other ways.

He controls all their money and tracks her on the Find My Friends app.

He also won’t let her go back to college because he likes the house “nice and tidy”.

I’ve told her this relationship isn’t healthy, but she just tells me to “keep my nose out.”

She said if I don’t, she’ll have to reconsider how often I see my grandsons, aged five and two.

Focus on being there for her. Then, when she decides enough’s enough, she will be more likely to turn to you.
