The recent royal family portrait featuring Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George is an interesting display of four generations of the royal heirs. In addition to the queen sporting a smile and a handbag, there’s something interesting about young Prince George and his fashion choice.
Prince George wears his favorite shirt
One thing that royal fans have noticed about Prince Georgeis that he often wears the same style shirt for any occasion requiring a formallook. George has worn the same £55 Rachel Riley white shirt with blue piping oneight other occasions. It’s not the same exact shirt, as he’s worn variationson the style, including a different piping color and different sleeve lengths.
Prince George wore the shirt when he posed with the queenfor her 90th birthday when he was three years old, as he stood perched on a pileof books while holding dad Prince William’s hand.
He was again seen wearing the shirt for Trooping the Colour2016, as well as to his brother Prince Louis’ christening in July 2018. PrinceGeorge has been seen in a short sleeve version of the shirt and wore thefavorite shirt for his fifth birthday portrait taken by mom Kate Middleton.
The shirt made another appearance when George wore it at secondcousin Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October and won overfans when the shirt was worn when he made Christmas puddings as part of theRoyal British Legion’s ‘Together at Christmas’ initiative with his father, grandfather and great-grandmother.
The shirt was paired with Black Watch tartan trousers forthe new portrait.

The story behind the queen’s handbag
Queen Elizabeth has her signature Launer handbag on her arm for the portrait. While the accessory may seem a strange choice for the royal photo, the queen is rarely seen without it, having carried nearly identical versions of the bag for more than 60 years. The Daily Mail reports that the queen owns over 200 Launer bags, after being sent her first bag in 1968 by Sam Launer.
Gerald Bodmer, CEO of Launer London, told the Mail Online in2016: “I saw her with an old one with a metal-plate structure. She keeps allthe bags and even all the Queen’s Mother’s bags.”
He added: “It’s amazing how they last. They’re structured, that’s our strength.”

Four generations of The Royal Family have come together to support The Royal British Legion's 'Together at Christmas' initiative. The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George, joined forces to prepare special Royal British Legion Christmas puddings at Buckingham Palace this week. The Queen is Patron of The Royal British Legion and the puddings will become the centerpieces of next year's "Together at Christmas" get-togethers, hosted by the charity. According to Bodmer, the queen will request small customizations, including asking for ‘the handles longer,” in order to keep the purse from getting in the way while shaking hands.
As for what’s in the bag, Bodmer says there are likely some basics, such as a compact mirror and spectacle case, with many believing she keeps a lipstick, mints, and pen as well.
It’s also rumored that the queen uses her handbag to send subtle signals when she wants guests to leave, with the Telegraph reporting that she will place her bag on the floor as a cue to her staff.
“If the Queen places her handbag on the table at dinner, it signals that she wants the event to end in the next five minutes,” the Telegraph noted. “If she puts her bag on the floor, it shows she’s not enjoying the conversation and wants to be rescued by her lady-in-waiting.”
