SunSport tipster Steve Mullen – Templegate to you and me – has been poring over the form for months.

Here, he reveals which runners he thinks can land the spoils, and bag you a small fortune in the process.

POLITOLOGUE (3.05 Cheltenham, nap – best bet)

He didn’t get the credit he deserved for winning this last season. Like today, Altior was missing and plenty of people said Paul Nicholls’ runner didn’t have a lot to beat.

But it was still the Champion Chase and he won it brilliantly by galloping them into the ground. He looks overpriced to go close again.

GAILLARD DU MESNIL (1.20 Cheltenham, nb – next best)

He has looked a potential superstar this season and was highly impressive when winning the Grade 1 Golden Cygnet at Leopardstown last month.

He saw out the slightly longer trip there and that staying power will be a real asset. That smart effort was just his third run over timber and there’s more to come.

CHOSEN MATE (4.15 Cheltenham, treble – chuck in for a big win)

He was impressive when winning this race 12 months ago and returns from just 2lb higher when taking his rider’s claim into account.

His whole campaign has been geared around coming back here with a run on the Flat and over hurdles before a couple of quiet spins over fences.

That should see him spot-on for fitness and we know this trip and track are ideal.

1.20 Gaillard Du Mesnil (nb)

Improving fast and plenty in hand when winning a Grade 1 last time.

1.55 Monkfish

Won at last year’s Festival and looks a superstar over fences already.

2.30 Grand Roi

Will improve for this longer trip on handicap debut.

3.05 POLITOLOGUE (NAP)

Last year’s winner can go very close again over ideal trip.

3.40 Some Neck

Won here last time and good price to hit the frame again.

4.15 Chosen Mate (treble)

Won this last year and trained to peak again today.

4.50 Sir Gerhard

Three easy wins so far and can take another big step forward.

Don't forget, there are more races going on around the UK on Wednesday and Templegate has a pick in those too.
