OWEN FARRELL has revealed that his father has entertained himself by buying his son rival tops.

The England rugby captain found his three-year-old Tommy in an Ireland shirt before finding out he had also been bought a Manchester City jersey by his father.

Farrell's father, Andy, is the current coach of the Irish national rugby team.

Since being appointed in 2019, he has led them to the top of the world rankings.

And it appears he takes a lot of joy in winding his son up through gifts for his grandson.

The Manchester United fan was not best pleased upon the discovery as he asked his son about the tops.

And Farrell revealed that Tommy would not be allowed to wear the shirt anymore.

He told The Telegraph: “I asked him why he has got one.

“He said: ‘it’s grandad’s team’ and I said: ‘well, you can wear a suit like grandad does, then, not the kit.’

“They’re into anything and my dad also got them a Man City top which I’m not happy about as well.

“They’re also obsessed with Batman and Spiderman at the minute and were dressed up as them last week.

“Someone sent us a picture and said they looked like Del Boy and Rodney [from the famous scene in the BBC classic comedy Only Fools and Horses].”

Farrell will lead his side out at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday in the Six Nations opener against Scotland.

He was reinstalled as the captain of the side by new head coach Steve Borthwick for the Six Nations.
