IPL 2021 betting odds: Mumbai Indians favourites for third straight title and Jos Buttler tipped to shine

MUMBAI INDIANS are favourites to defend their IPL crown when the 2021 edition kicks off on April 9.

Rohit Sharma's five-time champions thrashed Delhi Capitals in last year's final in the UAE.

Mumbai are loaded with Indian stars such as Sharma, Pandya brothers Hardik and Krunal, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav.

Their closest challengers Delhi were dealt a blow with the news that captain Shreyas Iyer will miss this year's tournament after a shoulder injury during India's series with England.

Three-time champions Chennai Super Kings had a tournament to forget last season in the Middle East.

MS Dhoni's side finished seventh and missed the playoffs for the first time in their history.

But don't bet against the men in yellow bouncing back with the competition heading back to India for this edition.

England stars Sam Curran and Moeen Ali are among the ranks, and they'll welcome back Suresh Raina after he missed last year's tournament.

Chennai are available as wide as 9/1 to win their fourth crown this year.

Rajasthan Royals won the initial tournament under Shane Warne in 2008 but have done little since.

They're not fancied to go deep in this year's competition either given their lack of Indian stars.

Rajasthan will be reliant on their overseas recruits in the form of England's Ben Stokes and Joe Buttler, and £1.68m South African all-rounder Chris Morris.

The Royals are available at 9/1 with Kings XI Punjab the only team priced at 10/1.

Opening batsmen stand the best chance of racking up runs – and that puts Indian trio Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma right at the top of the list.

Jos Buttler is England's best bet at 10/1, but for an outsider don't look past Australia's Glenn Maxwell at 20/1.

Bangalore spent big on the Aussie six-hitter and will want to make the most of his explosive talents.

Mumbai Indians' lethal striker bowler Jasprit Bumrah is favourite to take most wickets at 8/1 and hard to look past.

For an outside bet, two Indian bowlers who impressed against England in the recent series are worth looking at.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, if he can stay fit, is 16/1 for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai's Shardul Thakur is available at 20/1.
