Liverpool transfer news: Four most likely January signings including Upamecano and White as Klopp eyes winter sales

LIVERPOOL are expected to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window with defensive additions the club's top priority.

The Premier League champions have been crippled by injuries with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Fabinho, who was deputising at centre-back, is also absent which has left manager Jurgen Klopp desperately short of options.

SunSport take a closer look at bookmakers' FOUR most likely arrivals at Anfield in January.

Ben White – 4/1

The Brighton centre-back attracted plenty of attention during his season-long loan spell with Leeds in the Championship.

And his stock has continued to rise at the Amex Stadium having comfortably risen to Premier League level.

The Seagulls know they've got a real talent on their hands and moved quickly to tie him to a new four-year deal back in September.

However, reports suggest they would be prepared to sell for around £40m and bookmakers Ladbrokes think Liverpool are a 4/1 chance of forking out in January.

Perr Schuurs – 4/1

The talented 19-year-old has been labelled the 'next Matthijs de Ligt' having broken into Ajax's starting XI.

And his progress hasn't gone unnoticed with AC Milan, Inter and Liverpool all interested in pinching his signature.

Schuurs is thought to have particularly impressed Klopp and Co. during their recent Champions League showdown at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

With interest in the teenager expected to rise significantly, Ladbrokes think Liverpool are a 4/1 chance to snap him up early.

Paulo Gazzaniga – 5/1

Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is expected to quit Tottenham in January and Liverpool aren't too hot on Adrian.

It makes sense.

The Argentine stopper fell further down the pecking order over the summer when Jose Mourinho decided to add free agent Joe Hart to his books.

Gazzaniga, 28, hasn't played a minute of competitive action this season and it's anticipated that he'll be off in around six weeks time.

Ladbrokes have priced him at 5/1 to arrive on Merseyside.

Dayot Upamecano – 6/1

RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is a wanted man.

Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been tipped to sign the France international over the past 12 months.

Liverpool are also in the hunt and could capitalise on their excellent relationship with the German club.

The Reds have previously bought Naby Keita AND Takumi Minamino from Leipzig and are 6/1 to complete the hat-trick by signing Upamecano in January.
