Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Dortmund 'keen to sell Haaland to United', Greenwood 'upset' Cristiano Ronaldo always starts

MANCHESTER UNITED'S clash with Brighton this weekend has been POSTPONED due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the squad.

Four players tested positive last Sunday, halting their game with Brentford in the process. But now a further 19 members of the club have tested positive, putting back the Brighton game too.

But looking ahead to the January transfer window there is a more positive picture developing.

Reports from Germany suggest Manchester United are the only serious bidder for Dortmund's Erling Haaland at present.

And indeed the German side are said to be keen for Haaland to move to Old Trafford if they are forced to sell.

But Mason Greenwood could be forced out as a result, with the England international already said to be "upset" that Cristiano Ronaldo is the first name on the teamsheet.

Finally RB Leipzig's Amadou Haidara, who was spotted by Ralf Rangnick, has admitted to being a lifelong Man Utd and Ronaldo fan.

    VLAHOVIC BLOW

Manchester United have sustained a reported transfer blow as Newcastle are keeping tabs on Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic.

According to CalcioMercato, Newcastle have launched a whopping €100million (£85m) bid for Vlahovic.

That would make the striker the fourth-most expensive player in Premier League history.

Arsenal and Tottenham are also reportedly keen on the Serbia international

    GLOVES OFF

Manchester United ace Dean Henderson could be on his way out ahead of the January transfer window.

Henderson is desperate for minutes as he sits below David de Gea in the United pecking order.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is reportedly wanted by Ajax, who are prepared to move for him next month.

The England international is yet to cause a stir at Old Trafford but has made just a total of two appearances this season – and none in the Premier League.

    PAUL-ING BACK

Barcelona are not going to continue their pursuit of Manchester United star midfielder Paul Pogba.

That is according to Sport, who claim that Barca are ending their interest in Pogba.

The 28-year-old’s contract with the Red Devils runs out in June and it seems unlikely he will sign a new deal.

The France international has also been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid

    HAA-VING A MEETING

Barcelona ‘have met with Mino Raiola’ and discussed the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, who’s also linked with Manchester United.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Barca president Joan Laporta held a meeting with Raiola in order to negotiate transfer targets, including that of Haaland.

Despite the Blaugrana’s financial woes, there is still an interest in the Norway international as well as United star Paul Pogba.

It is also claimed that the meeting with the player’s rep was ‘not casual’

    ‘ONLY SERIOUS BIDDER’

Manchester United are the ‘only’ serious bidder for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.

That is according to SportBild, who report that United are strong candidates for Haaland’s signature compared to other suitors, but will first have to make it to next season’s Champions League.

Chelsea have already landed Romelu Lukaku, while Real Madrid’s priority is to sign Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland could replace Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain but a move to Paris ‘would only be an alternative’ for him.

Manchester City, meanwhile, were keen on signing Harry Kane in the summer transfer window and the Tottenham star remains a ‘dream’ target for Pep Guardiola.

Bayern Munich won’t be considered as long as Robert Lewandowski is still leading the attack while Barcelona are still struggling financially

    MAN UTD VS BRIGHTON POSTPONED

Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Brighton at home on Saturday has been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Red Devils’ camp.

United released the following statement: “Manchester United can confirm that our Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, scheduled for Saturday 18 December at 12:30 GMT, has been postponed and will be rescheduled in due course.

“The health of players and staff is our priority. Given the number of players and support staff having to isolate due to COVID-19, the club had no option other than to request the match be rearranged. The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone based on guidance from medical advisors.

“We will also suspend football training operations at the Carrington Training Complex for a short period to help reduce risk of further transmission.

“We regret any disappointment and inconvenience caused to fans by the postponement”

    MORNING, UNITED FANS

Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Dean Henderson are in the transfer spotlight after Saturday’s Prem clash against Brighton was called OFF due to United’s Covid outbreak.

Arsenal are tipped to bid for England poacher Greenwood, 20, with Juventus and cash-strapped Barcelona also said to be interested.

And fellow striker Martial is being linked with the Gunners, Tottenham and even West Ham after suggestions he’s open to a January exit.

Atletico Madrid are still reportedly weighing up a player-exchange deal for the 26-year-old France star

Martial’s wages, though, would surely be a hefty stumbling block, especially for a permanent exit.

Keeper Henderson could also leave Old Trafford next month, with Ajax regarded as his main suitors so far.

The 24-year-old must be running out of patience after failing to displace David De Gea as No1.

And what about possible incoming players?

It’s suggestedNewcastle could bid £85million for a major United and Arsenal target, Fiorentina’s Serbia forward Dusan Vlahovic.

And the Mail say Old Trafford scouts have watched Leeds keeper Illan Meslier, 21.

Finally, 19-year-old Swedish winger Anthony Elanga has won another United contract just nine months after signing his previous one.

TOON IN ‘£85M BID FOR UTD TARGET VLAHOVIC’

Newcastle could bid £85million for Manchester United and Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic.

Journalist Filippo Grassia told Passione Inter that the Toon will try to steal a march for Fiorentina’s Serbia striker.

Vlahovic, 21, has hit 15 goals in 17 Serie A matches this season.

RED DEVILS HAND ELANGA NEW DEAL

Swedish winger Anthony Elanga has landed another long-term Manchester United contract just nine months after his previous one.

The 19-year-old has notched five senior appearances for United and won eight Under-21 caps.

Now the Manchester Evening News say Old Trafford academy product Elanga has been further rewarded for his steady progress through the ranks.

    THE GREEN GUNNER?

Arsenal are tipped to bid for Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood.

The 20-year-old has found himself on the bench in recent weeks under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

And according to Elnacional, Arsenal Juventus and cash-strapped Barcelona are keeping an eye on his situation.

The Gunners may need to add three strikers to their ranks next summer with both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract.

And former club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is out of squad contention after another ‘disciplinary’ breach.

The 32-year-old returned from France late, leading to Arteta making the difficult decision to strip him of the captaincy.

Greenwood could be the ideal long-term replacement for any of the possible departing three – becoming the focal point of Mikel Arteta’s young squad.

The report states the trio will not ‘hesitate’ to make an offer for Greenwood should he decide to leave Old Trafford.

RON AND GEORGINA EXPECTING BOY AND GIRL

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez’s unborn twins are a boy and a girl.

The Man United hero and his five-month pregnant partner made their announcement on social media with a fabulous video.

They got their four children to pop balloons which released pink and blue confetti.

The two boys shouted: “It’s a boy” and the two girls: “It’s a girl” after Georgina gave a 1-2-3 countdown and then cheered and laughed as they revealed the sexes of the unborn children.

Cristiano wrote along the footage which the couple posted at exactly the same time: “Where life begins and love never ends” followed by heart emojis.

The video featured their three-year-old daughter Alana Martina and the footballer’s daughter Eva, also three, in pink pijamas to go with the pink confetti in the balloon they burst.

Eva’s twin Matteo and Cristiano’s eldest son Cristiano Jr, nicknamed Cristianinho, were in darker outfits to match the blue confetti that appeared when they burst theirs.

Georgina, 27, exclaimed: “Ole! How lovely!” as she struggled to contain her emotions while the four kids played after revealing the exciting news.

    UEFA WANT ALL PLAYERS VACCINATED

Euro chiefs are urging all players to get vaccinated – but they will NOT force anyone to be jabbed, writes MARTIN LIPTON.

Uefa has launched a video aimed at un-vaxxed players, using doctors to try to persuade them to take the anti-Covid injections.

President Aleksander Ceferin said: “We should promote the vaccinations and we will.

“I believe in science, and I got vaccinated. I think they should get vaccinated, as soon as possible.

“But I still believe it’s a personal choice. We don’t have the power to force anyone to be vaccinated.

“In the video, we have doctors explaining why the vaccine is good, that the side effects are very rare and going through the figures and facts.

“We have to be smart and explain things.

“People are not stupid – when you explain in a nice way, not judging them, but to explain why vaccination is good.

“The facts are that vaccinated people are less likely to get infected and less likely to have the strong effects of Covid if they are infected.

“I think that, sooner or later, if not all, then the vast majority of players will understand it.”

‘MARTIAL WAGES RULE OUT ARSENAL AND SPURS MOVE’

Anthony Martial’s wages could rule Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham out of signing the Manchester United target.

That’s the view of ex-Gunners frontman Kevin Campbell after Martial was also linked to a player-exchange deal with Atletico Madrid.

Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports the France star wants to leave next month.

And Campbell told Football Insider: “There is no doubt about it, he has incredible talent. But he hasn’t played enough football.

“He has suffered with a couple of injuries and a lack of form. I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him lately.

“When you look at the top teams, I’m not sure they’d want him. Arsenal have [Emile] Smith Rowe, [Bukayo] Saka and [Gabriel] Martinelli playing great at the moment. Pepe can’t even get in the team.

“When you look at Spurs, who have Son Heung-min, [Harry] Kane and Lucas Moura, I cannot see him moving there. West Ham? I can’t see that either.

“Those big wages could be a problem.”

    GEORGINA SHOWS OFF BABY BUMP

Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez was spotted with her baby bump for the first time this week.

The Portuguese superstar was being filmed by Rodriguez – who is expecting twins – while he was training in the gym following the postponement of Brentford vs Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

Her growing bump can be seen in the mirror reflection behind the 36-year-old.

The couple announced on Instagram at the end of October that they are expecting with the caption reading “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins.

“Out hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you.”

Ronaldo is already a father to four children.

His eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr is 11-years-old and recently joined Manchester United’s academy.

The youngster is set to follow in his father’s footsteps after training with the illustrious academies of Real Madrid and Juventus.

    KIERAN IN IPSWICH TALKS

Manchester United first team coach Kieran McKenna is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with Ipswich Town about becoming the club’s new manager.

The 35-year-old looks set to replace former boss Paul Cook who was sacked after nine months in charge following a poor run of form.

Northern Irishman McKenna has worked under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

And he has remained a part of the backroom staff following the arrival of Ralf Rangnick last month.

But now, according to Sky Sports, he looks set to depart for his first managerial role at League One outfit Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys currently sit 12th in the table with just seven victories from their opening 22 games of the season.

Ipswich were relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2018-19 campaign after finishing bottom of the table with just 31 points.

They came 11th last season after manager Cook took over from Paul Lambert.

PREM CLUBS VOW TO CARRY ON

Premier League bosses have pledged to plough on with the weekend programme – ignoring calls for a pre-Christmas Covid shutdown.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank began a remarkable day of Prem frenzy by publicly calling on the League to postpone the entire weekend fixture list and urging the EFL to also put the midweek Carabao Cup last eight ties on ice.

Within hours, Spurs’ trip to Leicester last night was called off after the Foxes’ virus outbreak intensified, as was Manchester United’s game with Brighton tomorrow as the Old Trafford side were left with just SEVEN available players.

Norwich manager Dean Smith is also worried about getting a team together for his side’s game at West Ham.

Across the country, a number of top flight executives were privately suggesting that taking a break until Boxing Day might be the best way of providing a firewall against the virus spread.

But the Prem insisted there are no plans to even consider a temporary close down.

In a statement which confirmed “with regret” the second United match postponement of the week, the Prem said: “While recognising a number of clubs are experiencing Covid-19 outbreaks, it is the League’s intention to continue its current fixture schedule where safely possible.

“The health and wellbeing of all concerned remains our priority.”

    UTD WATCH MESLIER

Manchester United sent scout Tony Coton to watch Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The Daily Mail claim United representatives were in attendance to watch Meslier against Manchester City.

It has been claimed the Red Devils have identified the 21-year-old as the best young shot-stopper in the Premier League.

The Manchester giants are facing the prospect of loaning Dean Henderson out next month.

    ELANGA LANDS NEW UTD DEAL

    HENDERSON LINKED TO AJAX

Dean Henderson could leave Manchester United next month amid links to Ajax.

The England international is desperate for minutes as he sits below David De Gea in the United pecking order.

And the 24-year-old is reportedly wanted by Dutch giants Ajax, who are prepared to move for him next month.

The keeper is yet to cause a stir at Old Trafford but has made just two appearances this season – and none in the Premier League.

He had more of a chance last term as he vied with De Gea as United’s first-choice stopper.

But opportunities for first-team football have now dried up as the Spaniard reaffirms himself as No.1.

Reports suggest there has been no contact between Henderson and Ajax, but the Eredivisie champs have spoken to United about a possible loan.

However, new boss Ralf Rangnick is thought to be reluctant to lose the player before he has had a chance to work with him.

Ajax supremo and United legend Edwin van der Sar is a big admirer of the United academy graduate.

CRISTIANO IS KEY TO UTD’S EURO HOPES

Atalanta defender Merih Demiral hinted that Manchester United wouldn’t have qualified to the Champions League Last 16 without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Demiral told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “There’s a strong bond between Cristiano and me.

“He’s always helped me and we often chat on Whatsapp. I think he is one of the best people I’ve ever met.

“I can easily say that it’s better to have him in your team rather than against you.

“He always makes the difference. Look at what he’s done in the Champions League. Would Manchester United be in the last 16 without him? No…”
