EDDIE HOWE has emerged as a serious contender for the Newcastle job.
And bookmakers Sky Bet have responded by installing the 43-year-old as favourite to replace Steve Bruce at St James' Park.

Howe was available at 12/1 yesterday, but that price has shortened considerably overnight to 3/1.
The Mirror claim Howe is one of several free agents being considered by Newcastle chiefs.
It's thought the Toon are prioritising out of work candidates to avoid conflicts with rivals clubs.
The former Cherries boss left the Vitality Stadium in August 2020 following the club's relegation to the Championship.
He was close to taking the Celtic job over the summer but changed his mind late on after a dispute over his backroom staff and transfers.
Lucien Favre, 63, is next in the betting market at 6/1.
Reports have claimed the Swiss coach has already expressed an interest in taking the reins on Tyneside.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager turned down the opportunity to join Crystal Palace in the summer but appears ready for a return to management.
Frank Lampard remains in the running at odds of 8/1, ahead of Paulo Fonseca (10/1) and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard (12/1).
Unai Emery is available at 14/1 with Brendan Rodgers, Graeme Jones and Rudi Garcia all locked together at 16s.
Foxes boss Rodgers had previously occupied the favourite position.
However, he's moved quickly to dispel any links and insists he is happy at the King Power.
Asked if Leicester remain his sole focus, Rodgers answered: "One hundred per cent. I have got a contract until 2025, I absolutely love being here.
"I've seen all the reports around it but of course it doesn't help anyone, particularly Newcastle and Steve Bruce.
"Managers and coaches work hard to do the best for our teams and then we have speculation and gossip that goes around and it can destabilise supporters and maybe players, but it doesn't benefit anyone at all."
