Victor Oladipo’s reported plea for an escape from the Pacers has created some family-teammate drama.
The Indianapolis Star reported on Thursday that Oladipo, during games last season against the Raptors, Heat and Knicks, could be heard in front of his Pacers teammates asking players on the opposing teams, “Can I come play with y’all?”
Oladipo has since denied the report and his twin sister came to his support on Thursday, accusing his teammates of lying.
“Pew this tweet reeks……what kind of teammates would just lie like this,” Victoria Oladipo wrote in response to a tweet about the report.
When another user replied to her, suggesting it was Pacers center Myles Turner, Victoria answered back with two emojis — a lips sealed and a shrug, which evidently caught the attention of Turner.
“Damn, it’s like that?” Turner tweeted back.
“Rumors are rumors for a reason if you didn’t hear him say it then it’s not true or are we forgetting that people lie,” Victoria later wrote in a separate tweet.
The messy situation comes with Oladipo having one year left on his contract, which has made him the subject of trade rumors. Turner has been mentioned in trade rumors as well, but it was Oladipo on Thursday who was having to defend himself.
“I’m a Pacer, dawg. I’m a Pacer,” the 28-year-old guard wrote on Instagram. “I can’t control the rumors, man. All of the ones on the internet, I don’t even know where they come from. I’m just in the background, working on my knee, trying to get right for next year.”
