The identity of Amanda Holden’s "nan" has been revealed ahead of her new comedy series The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle.

The documentary-style series follows Amanda Holden, her family and her nan, Myrtle.

Rumours have been circling about who will play the character, with Leigh Francis, Alan Carr and Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly all under the spotlight.

However, according to the Radio Times, the role of Amanda’s nan is being played by none other than Keith Lemon star Leigh Francis.

The show portrays a concerned Amanda who persuades her lonely nan to relocate from Doncaster to live with her in her swanky London house.

Eagle-eyed Brits have been guessing Leigh Francis as the person that will play Amanda’s nan since the Britain’s Got Talent judge posted a teaser clip of the show to social media.

One said: “Amanda Holden’s 'Nan' is 100% Keith Lemon aka Leigh Francis. Just looks like a slightly more modern version of his Bo Selecta characters.”

Another added: “Kept seeing ads for that Mandy & Myrtle thing. Amanda Holden with her ‘nan’ that looks just like Leigh Francis and sure enough it is.”

The trailer shows the pair stood together in Amanda's stunning back garden for a promotional shot, revealing her massive house extension with beautiful bi-fold doors and sweeping patio.

Her beautiful Surrey home was also used for a photoshoot with a white screen being temporarily erected inside one of Amanda's luxury rooms.

A spokesperson for Amanda's nan, Myrtle, said: “I have no comment, apart from I’m really hoping being on TV might means I can finally meet my favourite young man, Ben Shephard.”

The Heart radio presenter, 50, recently said: "I’m delighted that everyone is finally going to meet my nan, the apple never falls far from my tree and in this series she will certainly be keeping me on my toes."

Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, Steven Handley said: “Amanda is one of the UK’s most well-known stars and we are thrilled to get insight into her life with her nan.”

The new eight-part comedy series starts with a double bill tonight (September 7) and will air straight after Married at First Sight UK on E4 at 10pm.

The second episode plays out straight afterwards at 10.35pm.
