Carol Kirkwood was left red-faced on BBC Breakfast when she forgot who Dan Walker was presenting the show with.

The BBC weather presenter had just finished telling viewers about what to expect from the day when she tried to hand them back over to Dan, but she left Nina out.

It looked like Carol had forgotten her co-star Nina's name at first, and she quickly apologised for her awkward blunder on air.

Carol said: "There is some snow on the cards. Mostly on the hills and the mountains. These are our temperatures – four in the north to nine in the south.

Wrapping up, she began saying: "So if you haven't got your big coat out yet Dan and…"

However, she went blank as she couldn't remember who Dan was presenting with – business presenter Nina Warhurst.

She quickly added: "Oh, Nina! I couldn't remember who was on, sorry. Nina! Then get it [your coat] out now"

Strictly star Dan burst out laughing at Carol's error as she apologised to her – saying: "Nina, apologies, I'm your biggest fan!"

Nina replied: "I won't take it personally…" before bursting into fits of giggles, too.

Dan wasn't pleased though, because he said: "Hold on a minute, you told me you were my biggest fan!"

Carol laughed as she said "I'm your biggest fan, too!"

Dan consoled Carol as he explained: "It's very difficult Carol because we keep changing presenters all the time, because Sally [Nugent]'s off in Leeds today, Nina's on the sofa today…"

Nina referenced Dan's Strictly stint when she said:" Aren't you on some sort of dancing programme?" before Dan replied: "Yeah, occasionally".

Dan added: "I don't even know what day of the week it is" before saying goodbye to Carol.

Nina has been reporting BBC Breakfast since 2018, and she has filled in for other presenters when they are unavailable.

Her co-star, Sally, has become a permanent main host to replace Lousie Minchin, who left the show earlier this year.
