Call the Midwife is back on BBC One on Christmas Day and it promises to leave viewers in tears of joy. As Christmas 1967 comes around, Poplar is returning to normal after the train crash and Matthew Aylward (played by Olly Rix) is delighted to see the return of Trixie Franklin (Helen George). Who is in the Call the Midwife Christmas special?
The midwives move the clinic into new premises in the festive special and all of the main cast are expected to return.
Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter), Phyllis Crane (Linda Bassett) and Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt) are all making an appearance.
Shelagh Turner (Laura Main), Lucille Anderson (Leonie Elliott), Dr Patrick Turner (Stephen McGann), Reggie Jackson (Daniel Laurie) and Fred Buckle (Cliff Parisi) will also return.
They will be joined by Violet Buckle (Annabelle Apsion), Sister Frances (Ella Bruccoleri), Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack), Millicent Higgins (Georgie Glen) and Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taitte) are rounding off the main cast.
June – Emma Hook
Guest character June is played by Emma Hook, a comedy actress who has had roles in The Reprieve and Casualty.
Cindy Dalvert – Jesse Akele
Cindy Dalvert is played by Jesse Akele, an actress from Bradford who graduated with an acting degree in 2018.
Her credits include The Unnatural Tragedy, Bare, There Are No Beginnings, Sirens and Allelujah.
Warden – Zee Asha
The warden is played by Zee Asha, a London-born singer and actress, vocal coach and drama teacher.
She has previously starred in Dumbo, Ted Lasso, The Nevers and Merlin.
Susan Mullucks – Emily Webb
The Mullucks family joins the Christmas special with Emily Webb playing Susan.
She is relatively new to the world of TV acting and is mostly known for her theatre roles.
Rhoda Mullucks – Liz White
Rhoda Mullucks is played by Liz White, a 43-year-old actress known for her roles in Life on Mars and Ackley Bridge.
The actress from Yorkshire has also starred in Unforgotten, The Woman in Black and Anatomy of a Scandal.
Bernie Mullucks – Chris Reilly
Bernie is played by Chris Reilly, a Scottish actor who did not start acting until he was 31.
In 2018 he won a BAFTA Scotland award for Best Actor in a Television Drama for his role in the BBC’s The Last Post.
His other credits include Game of Thrones, Industry and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
Belinda Mullucks – Rachel Andrews
Belinda is played by Rachel Andrews, who is known for her roles in Stay Close and Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
Perry Mullucks – Sam Dowdy
Perry is played by Sam Dowdy, who appears to be making his TV debut in the series.

Mrs McConley – Kate O’Rourke
Mrs McConley is played by Kate O’Rourke, an Irish actress who is based in London.
She is known for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Passion in Paradise and Legend of the Seeker.
Mrs Avis – Jane Booker
Mrs Avis is played by Jane Booker, a 66-year-old English actress with more than 40 credits to her name.
She is best known for her roles in Finding Neverland, A Perfect Spy and Nanny.
Mrs Manzi – Denise Black
Mrs Manzi is played by Denise Black, a 64-year-old English actress.

Colette Corrigan is Nancy’s daughter and she is played by Francesca Fullilove.
