Celebrity MasterChef fans emotional as Katie Price is startled to receive praise

Celebrity MasterChef fans got all emotional this week after Katie Price began receiving praise for her efforts in the kitchen.

The reality TV star, 43, continued to impress viewers of the BBC One cooking series on Tuesday night, as she faced off against former EastEnders star Joe Swash, footballer Dion Dublin and Corrie's Melissa Johns.

Plating up a meal of langoustine and chicken dumplings in a chicken and dashi broth in order to impress guest judge Sabrina Gidda, Katie received glowing feedback from Sabrina and Celebrity MasterChef hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace alike.

She also received praise from viewers of the programme, who grew emotional after watching her act surprised following her praise from the judges, after revealing she's "not used to hearing" such compliments.

While John Torode praised the "great" dish, Gregg Walace added: “There is a cookery term you may not have come across, all right, and that is 'fantastic'."

Katie seemed thrilled with their feedback.

She said: “They’re not judging me as a person, they’re judging me on my cooking and that’s really nice to get that praise, but I never know how to take it.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, thanks,’ like, ‘Oh!’

“I’m not used to hearing it.”

Following Katie's stunned reactions, viewers took to Twitter to share their own emotional responses.

One commented: "When Katie gets genuine praise for doing something well though [emotional face emoji].

"It makes me sad that she feels like it's something so rare."

Another wrote: “I really like Katie Price on this. She gets the worst time from the public, and it’s strangely emotional to see her so happy to get praise for doing well at something."

A third remarked: "Bless her, Katie, looks over the moon with her critique!"

One reformed sceptic said: "Always one that surprises you… Katie did really well, she just gets on with it."

Another concluded: "Actually really hope Katie wins this, 'cause it would really upset the misogynists who like to fling vile insults about her for no reason other than that she’s a strong, savvy woman."

Celebrity MasterChef continues at 9pm on BBC One
