Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) is currently on trial for her role in death of Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) in Coronation Street.
Seb, as viewers will know, was murdered back in May, after Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and his mates sets upon the teen and his girlfriend Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) in a brutal hate crime attack.
Kelly, who was also present on the night of the assault, pleaded with Corey to stop, and even attempted to pull him off Seb, but Corey was hellbent on violence.
Nina, meanwhile, was initially unable to remember what transpired on the night in question, but her memories were later restored during a compelling flashback episode, in which she came to realise that it was Corey who kicked Seb to death.
The trial of both Corey and Kelly is well underway, with Corey pulling out all the stops to secure his freedom.
The murdered feigned emotion last week, as Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) cross-examined him, and it’s thought that his dad Stefan (Paul Opacic) has been paying off witnesses to lie on the stand.
It’s Kelly’s chance to tell her side of the story – aka the truth – this week, but will her evidence prove convincing?
Will she be able to prove her innocence, or will she be found guilty?
Does Kelly get found guilty in Coronation Street and is she leaving?
Corrie are keeping the outcome of the trial under wraps, and therefore it’s currently unknown as to whether Kelly will be found guilty or innocent.
It’s also unknown as to whether Kelly, or actress Millie Gibson, will be leaving the ITV soap.
This week will see Kelly cross-examined by both Sabeen (Zora Bishop) and Imran.
Kelly admits to slapping Nina in order to get Corey’s attention, and Sabeen later uses this admission to her advantage.
‘This isn’t the first time you’ve tried to get Corey’s attention, is it?’ she says.
‘On the 6th of April 2020, you shared a video of your friend Asha, Corey’s girlfriend. You shared it to everyone you knew via your mobile phone.
‘A vindictive, jealous act that almost ruined Asha’s life.’
Kelly explains that she ‘hates’ herself for what she did, but Sabeen didn’t buy it.
‘If you can ruin your friend’s life to impress Corey,’ she continues, ‘If you can smack an innocent girl in the face to impress Corey, why should we believe that you wouldn’t viciously attack a boy you barely know to impress Corey?
Kelly lashes out, telling the court she ‘didn’t’ kill Seb, reiterating that it was Corey who did so.
Afterwards, Imran and Sabeen deliver their closing arguments for the jury, and The jury then reach a verdict in the first of Friday’s (September 10) two editions of the serial drama.
Coronation Street continues Monday September 6 at 7:30pm on ITV.
