The UK will see coronavirus hospitalisations rise as the number of positive cases shoots up, Dr Hilary has warned. The ITV Good Morning Britain (GMB) expert had been addressing the concerning surge of serious infections in France. He pointed out that Britain could see the same trend as the country is only a few weeks behind the curve of mainland Europe.

Dr Hilary told GMB viewers: “There’s a timelag between the number of cases rising and the serious infections that require hospitalisation.

“So we’re now seeing in France something like 5,100 cases a day, which compares to something like 272 a week after their lockdown finished.

“So a massive increase in certain parts of France and that’s a concern.

“It’s four times what we have here at the moment but we’ve always been behind that curve, if we compare ourselves to Spain and France.”
