Golden Globes winners list in full as Squid Game and Kate Winslet triumph

The Golden Globes is known to be a star-studded, highly anticipated event – but last night’s ceremony, Sunday 9 January, was very different from usual.

In the wake of controversy surrounding the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) – who organise the event and vote for the winners – celebrities chose to distance themselves from the decades-old evening, which NBC chose not to air for the first time in years.

In a statement issued before the ceremony, NBC said: “We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform.

“However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”

The HPFA went on to make the ceremony a “private event” and announced the winners on social media.

Some of last night’s winners were expected, with HBO’s Succession and The Power Of The Dog sweeping the board, however there were some surprises too as many felt that Kristen Stewart and Lady Gaga were more deserving for the award for Best Actress for their respective movies over Nicole Kidman.
