KATE Garraway says she is feeling "braver" for first time since coronavirus hit as she rode a motorbike into work.
The 53-year-old laughed as she tried to film herself while wearing a mask and helmet amid husband's battle.
It was hard to hear her through the protective gear, the wind and noisy bike, so Kate wrote a caption for fans as she uploaded it on Instagram: "Back on the bike & heading for @smoothradio – feels good to be braving doing more and seeing my friends from @limobikelondon again.
"Quite a combination isn’t it – mask helmet and wind ! So in case u missed anything !?!
"I am just saying it feels all “mellow mists & fruitfulness” this morning and am going to be getting some relaxing tunes to match on @smoothradio from 10."
She had said on camera: "So great to be back on the bike. I've missed it. If you can hear me over the helmet and mask…. on the way to Smooth Radio."
Kate's husband Derek was rushed to intensive care with coronavirus back in March.
He was put into a coma shortly afterwards – and he remains with limited consciousness.
The 53-year-old is still unable to speak, with doctors warning he may stay in his current condition.
But there are signs that he can hear so nurses play Good Morning Britain for him when his wife is on.
The couple are mum and dad to 14-year-old Darcey and 11-year-old Billy.
They are preparing for Derek to get better – with Kate returning to work so they could resume life as normal as possible since their family tragedy.
But the TV favourite confessed that she was finding the constant sadness and heartbreak "wearing".
She told to YOU magazine, Kate said: "Every issue I’m dealing with I automatically think, 'Oh, I’ll check with Derek' and then realise I can’t.
"There’s always this sadness. That and the heartbreak are the most wearing things."
She added: "I see him quite infrequently, not as often as I’d wish."
