Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway’s husband was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after becoming seriously ill with Covid-19.
Derek Draper is still in intensive care, and in an interview with The Sunday Times magazine, Kate admitted his condition has deteriorated “dramatically”.
Now the star will feature in a documentary showing the “shocking” physical change her husband has been through since going to hospital.
Kate Garraway: Finding Derek will follow Kate as she offers “an intimate insight” into how she and her family have coped with her husband’s illness and the impact of coronavirus.
The one-off special will see Kate present “an unflinching account of the profound effects on her family and others”.
Kate Garraway: Finding Derek will air on Monday, March 29 at 9pm on ITV.
According to the TV star, Derek has lost eight stone since he was placed into an induced coma on April 5 last year.
The former Labour Party advisor was rushed to hospital in March 2020 after contracting the deadly bug, and he is thought to be the UK’s longest-surviving Covid-19 inpatient.
Although the virus has not been present in Derek’s body since last summer, it has left him with kidney failure, damage to his liver and pancreas and heart failure.

He also has holes in his lungs from bacterial pneumonia.
The 53-year-old warned journalist and family friend Decca Aitkenhead: “The change in his body is shocking. You’re going to be shocked, Decca.”
Ahead of the documentary, Kate has shared home footage of Derek fighting for his life.
Kate can be seen looking emotional while Derek is in a hospital bed, giving the public a first glimpse of the 53-year-old since he went into hospital a year ago.

Kate Garraway to show husband Derek's 'shocking' eight stone weight-loss in new doc
In the first clip for her new documentary, the GMB host says: "Derek is the sickest person the team of doctors have treated this year."
"Is he going to be able to come back or will he be alive but no longer the person he was?"
The screen goes black as a message reads: "One year later, Derek is still in hospital."
Kate, who shared two children with Derek, Darcey and Billy, has been open and honest with her fans, keeping them updated thought the journey.
