Lee Daniels Confirms ‘Star’ Revival ‘Ain’t Happening’

Although Fox TV pulled the ‘Empire’ spin-off series after three seasons, the man behind the show gives a shout out to the network for ‘letting us into your homes every Wednesday.’

AceShowbizLee Daniels has admitted defeat in his attempt to revive his cancelled TV drama “Star“.

The “Empire” spin-off, which focuses on three singers trying to make it in showbusiness, was pulled after three seasons by executives at U.S. TV network Fox earlier this month, despite featuring stars including Queen Latifah, and Benjamin Bratt.

Daniels tried to revive the show, which starred Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt, but admitted in an Instagram video on Thursday, May 30 he had failed to find a home for its fourth series.

“It ain’t happening,” the show’s executive producer said. “I did my best. Just know that like with Precious or ‘Empire’…’The Butler’ (Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Monster’s Ball, the next thing I do is going to be Star. It will exist in all my work.”

Despite the cancellation, he assured fans he had no hard feelings towards Fox chiefs, writing in the video’s caption: “Thank you guys for loving ‘Star’! I’m at a loss for words to describe my sadness. So I’m gunna (sic) just say THANKS ….to my incredible cast and crew and FANS!!!! And a shout out to #foxtv for letting us into your homes every Wednesday.”

After news broke that the show had been cancelled, Daniels treated the cast – which also includes Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady, Ryan Destiny and Evan Ross – to an all expenses skating party in Los Angeles.
