Love Island fans unimpressed as Laura Whitmore keeps forgetting Islanders names

Love Island: Aftersun viewers have taken to social media to complain about the show's host Laura Whitmore, who forgot the names of some islanders during Sunday's episode.

The face of the ITV2 dating show began last night's show by giving viewers an update on each couple still in the villa.

But as she listed each of the pairings, Lauren stumbled over certain names and even admitted to the cameras that she gets "confused" with contestant's names.

"I get confused because they used to be together and now they're not," said Laura.

An innocent mistake surely? However, fans were not going to let her off that easy as many accused her of being "disconnected" from the show.

One person wrote: "Just a reminder how disconnected Laura Whitmore is towards the whole show and its audience, she literally just got 3 couples mixed up with the wrong names."

Another said: "Why is Laura Whitmore struggling with the couple names I mean its your show what’s wrong lady?"

A third suggested a new host was needed, saying: "Anyone else think Laura Whitmore just isn't right for the show?"

A fourth agreed, writing: "Sorry but Laura Whitmore is the most unnatural presenter ever, it's like she isn't even enjoying presenting and she's just reading autocue with no vibes."

And a fifth unhappy fan tweeted: "Laura Whitmore needs to be sacked, she's awkward and not funny."

However, not all fans felt the same with one viewer leaping to her defence, writing: "See everyone going in on Laura Whitmore & how they don’t like her – hooooneyyyy BE KIND. Keep some comments to yourself."

And a second person called out negative fans for "blatant misogyny".

They added: "It’s an endless barrage of criticism and negativity for someone just doing their job. Does anyone remember #bekind?"

The backlash comes after it was revealed former Love Island star Adam Collard is returning to the ITV2 show.

Speaking on Aftersun straight after the reveal, host Laura Whitmore confirmed that this is the first time ever that a past Islander has returned to the villa.

The news was revealed at the end of Sunday's episode as narrator Iain Stirling teased in the spoiler for Monday: "And… guess who's back…" as Adam, 26, turned to face the camera.

Speaking prior to his entrance, Adam said of his comeback: "I’m going to ruffle a few feathers when I go in!"

Fans will recall that Adam appeared on Love Island in 2018 for series four, where he embarked in a romance with ex Zara McDermott, who is now loved-up with Sam Thompson.

In Monday's show the boys will be told to "zen it out" and leave the villa but it reality their absence will give Adam the chance to speak to the girls alone.

And it appears that the 26 year old hunk wastes no time in getting to know Paige Thorne, 24, first, who is currently considering whether to mend her romance with Jacques O’Neill, 26.

After the pair enjoy a chat, away from the watchful eyes of Jacques, it's clear that Adam's arrival into the villa has Paige a little flustered.

Speaking about Adam, Paige admits: “I feel like he has a lot of potential, he is ticking a good few of my boxes.”

Speaking in the Beach Hut, she says: “He’s so fit, I’m not gonna lie, he’s fit.”

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2.
