Love Island’s nastiest splits as couples turn sour – ‘toxic’ rows to Page 3 jibe

Much-loved ITV show Love Island may be about singletons trying to find the loves of their lives, but it’s far from smooth-sailing for many.

Over the years, there have been many relationship breakdowns as well as fallouts from contestants on the show.

Whilst several stars from the show have gone on to find love, get married and have children after meeting on the show, unfortunately, not every happy couple works on the outside and viewers have bear witness to some tense relationship drama.

As the show prepares to come back in 2021, Daily Star has taken a look back at the worst splits and fall outs from the famous villa.

Jon Clark and Hannah Elizabeth

  • Love Island beauty Zara McDermott floors fans as she flaunts figure in thong bikini

OG fans of the revival will remember Jon Clark and Hannah Elizabeth emerged as the ultimate power couple of season one.

They coupled up right at the beginning of the series and made it all the way through, with Jon even granting the show its first-ever proposal.

However, their romance didn’t last so well after leaving the villa and they split three months later in a bitter break-up, leading to Hannah blocking Jon on Instagram.

Things got even worse when Hannah branded Jon "jealous" and "nasty", telling Daily Star that he used her career as a glamour model against her in furious rows.

She said: "He would say 'Oh you're a f**king glamour model you get your tits out' and speak down to me."

The pair came face to face once more last year on Love Island: What Happened Next? where it luckily seemed to give them an opportunity to blow over the tension.

Sam Bird and Georgia Steel

  • Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry 'would be on the dole' if it wasn't for hit show

Georgia Steel was famed on the ITV show for telling her co-stars how “loyal” she was.

And her relationship with Sam Bird blossomed and they quickly moved in together after leaving the show in 2018.

But the pair’s romance game to an end after just a few months together, when Sam claimed to have seen texts sent by Georgia to her ex-boyfriend and a picture of them in bed together.

Georgia and Sam had an explosive row on camera, leading to her storming off as the rest of their cast mates watched on during a festive special.

Amber Gill and Michael Griffiths

  • Love Island's most shocking moments – from racy sex shows to eye-popping bitter feuds

Although Amber Gill eventually went on to win Love Island in 2019, it wasn’t with Michael Griffiths, who she had originally coupled up with.

Michael shockingly dumped Amber for fellow islander Joanna Chimonides after returning from Casa Amor.

After Joanna was dumped from the island by her fellow co-stars in a brutal twist, Michael sparked fury as he tried to rekindle the romance with Amber.

Fans were stunned by his behaviour and immediately put their support behind Amber – leading her to be crowned winner alongside Greg O'Shea.

Curtis Pritchard and Amy Hart

  • Maura Higgins to be one of Love Island's biggest successes after big money deals

Curtis Pritchard may be known more these days for appearing on Hollyoaks alongside his brother AJ Pritchard, but he originally popped up in the Love Island villa in 2018.

But whilst Amy stayed loyal in the villa, Curtis was quickly distracted by Jourdan Riane, even going on to say he would couple up with her instead of his current flame.

And when it became clear upon his return Curtis didn’t want to make things work, the pair suffered an explosive split.

Luckily, Curtis and Amy seem to have made amends as they were spotted on a night out together last year, with the former even sharing this reunion with his Instagram followers.

Jordan Hames and Anna Vakili

  • Love Island's Demi Jones left 'in tears' after doctors explained she had cancer

Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames seemed like a pretty solid couple in the villa early on and even went on to make their relationship official.

However, after new girl India Reynolds caught Jordan’s eye, it didn’t take long for things with Anna to go downhill, leading to one of the biggest rows the show has ever seen.

Jordan admitted he had feelings for India, just a few days after becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, and it is safe to say the news did not go down well with a furious Anna.

They were both dumped from the island as a result of the public vote shortly afterwards.

Rosie Williams and Adam Collard

  • Amanda Holden flaunts endless legs in thigh-grazing Union Jack dress for Eurovision

Adam Collard quickly had his head turned when Rosie Williams entered the villa in 2018, after he’d originally coupled up with Kendall-Rae Knight.

But this all changed when he got to know Zara McDermott, opting to ditch Rosie for the government advisor, leading to one of the awkwardest conversations on the show, with the pair delivering bitter swipes to each other.

He continued to date Zara for eight months after leaving the sunny isle, with the latter currently in a relationship with MIC’s Sam Thompson.

Things got even frostier as Rosie reportedly refused to attend the Christmas reunion special as she "didn't want to see Adam and Zara together".

Chris Hughes and Olivia Atwood

  • Olivia Attwood's sexiest snaps as TOWIE star turns 30 – from naked selfies to lingerie

Chris Hughes and Olivia Atwood were known for their fiery personalities and often clashed whilst they were coupled up together on the island.

They even ended up with their own TV show after their Love Island journey was over, Crackin' On but before it even aired, the pair suffered a shock split, much to the surprise of their fans.

It seemed there were tensions on both sides but Olivia, who is now engaged to footballer Bradley Dack, this week spoke of her “toxic” time with Chris.

She told MailOnline: ”Sometimes that's what happens and it pushes you back to your ex. After that we needed a good year to find our footing as a couple again. I still wasn't sure.

"It was toxic with Chris and we argued a lot. I never had that problem with Brad, we never argued."

Malin Andersson and Terry Walsh

  • Love Island's Malin Andersson posts powerful selfie after overcoming domestic abuse

Terry Walsh promised love interest Malin Andersson he would remain loyal after she’d been booted off the island.

But it only took him just over a day to have his head well and truly turned by Emma-Jayne Woodhams.

It led to a nasty confrontation between Terry and Malin when the latter was brought back to question her lover over his change of heart.

Emma and Terry went on to date outside the villa but he’s recently welcomed his first child with fiancée Danielle Purdy.
