Rick and Morty season four has come to an end on Adult Swim and Channel 4 in the US and the UK. Now viewers are eager to know when the series will be back with season five – here’s everything known so far about this and what could happen next.

When is Rick and Morty season 5 released?

Fans can rejoice as Adult Swim has already announced it has commissioned 70 new episodes of the show, ahead of the series four renewal.

The animated series will return for its fifth season on Sunday, June 20 at 11/10c.

The fourth season of the show has now finished airing in both the US and the UK and has been split across two parts.

The first part came to an end just before Christmas 2019 and a further five episodes were then be released in 2020.

Therefore, it is likely viewers will be able to watch it at some point after this.

However, creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have confirmed the wait between season four and season five will not be as long as previous series.

Roiland told Entertainment Weekly: “We’re rolling right into the next batch. The plan has always been to get them out quicker.”

Harmon added: “I think it’s safe to say without fear of being wrong that the gap between seasons 3 and 4 will be the longest and last time that it’s ever so long that it’s ridiculous.

“I don’t know how fast we can do it, but I know it will never be this long again.”

Who is in the cast of Rick and Morty season 5?

Creator Justin Roiland is expected to be back for season five to voice both Rick and Morty as he has in previous outings.

The rest of the voice cast are also expected to return for the new outing.

This includes Sarah Chalke as Beth, Chris Parnell as Jerry and Spencer Grammer as Summer.

Viewers should also expect some more guest stars in the new outing.

There were even some rumours emerging earlier in 2019 about how the creators were trying to get Kanye West to appear in a future episode.

What will happen in Rick and Morty season 5?

There have been no reveals about future plots of the show yet as the show is still on season four.

However, co-creator Harmon did post an image on his Instagram full of season five ideas thought up by Rob Schrab.

Some of those written on the post-it notes include: The people’s (basketball) court, Morty buys a boat and Jerry makes a log cabin with hair.

Whether any of these will make it into the final cut has not yet been revealed by the makers of the animated series.

Is there a trailer for Rick and Morty season 5?

No, there is no trailer for Rick and Morty season five available yet.

This is because the fourth series of the show is currently still airing.

However, footage for season five was released at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con.

Therefore, it is possible fans could see some of season five when this event returns in 2020.
