Sex Education season three is almost upon us with the latest outing arriving on September 17. The Netflix comedy-drama has build up a global fanbase thanks to its heartwarming episodes exploring the lives and loves of the students at Moordale High as well as the staff and parents. Here’s what you need to know about Sex Education season three.

When will Sex Education season 3 be released on Netflix?

In June 2021, it was announced season three will air on September 17, 2021, much to the delight of fans.

The series has faced some production issues due to the coronavirus pandemic, so this has been a long time coming.

Netflix has also released a string of first-look images including a sneak peek of new headteacher Hope (played by Jemima Kirke).

Who will be in the cast of Sex Education season 3?

The main cast will be returning with Asa Butterfield back as teen sex therapist Otis Milburn and Emma Mackey as Maeve Wiley.

Gillian Anderson will be reprising her role as Otis’ mother and professional sex therapist Jean Milburn.

Sex Education is very much an ensemble piece, so most of the cast will be coming back.

So, Ncuti Gatwa will be back as Eric Effiong, Tanya Reynolds as Lily Iglehart, Kedar Williams-Stirling as Jackson Marchetti, Aimee Lou Wood as Aimee Gibbs.

Other cast members include Patricia Allison as Ola Nyman, Sami Outalbali as Rahim, Chinenye Ezeudu as Vivienne “Viv” Odesanya, Jim Howick as Colin Hendricks, Rakhee Thakrar as Emily Sands and James Purefoy as Remi Milburn.

What will happen in Sex Education season 3?

The show will be picking up from the shocking cliffhanger which saw Isaac (George Robinson) deleted a voicemail from Maeve Wiley’s (Emma Mackey) phone in which Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) declared his love for her.

Season three will delve further into the romance between Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) and Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa).

One of the big stories is likely to be more of the fallout between Principal Groff (Alistair Petrie) and his wife Maureen (Samantha Spiro) after she filed for divorce from him.

There will be further development in the relationship between Ola and Lily.

Meanwhile, Jackson and Viv may have a romance after they seemed to have some chemistry by the end of season two.

Viewers will have to see how Jean’s pregnancy pans out after she realised she was going to have a baby.

The newer characters like Rahim and Viv are also likely to get more screentime after being introduced in season two.

Otis and his father could see another development in their relationship as well.

Is there a trailer for Sex Education season 3?

On September 7, the full trailer for season three was released by the streaming platform.

It showed Maeve getting a ride with best friend Amy as she tries to forget about Otis.

Meanwhile, Otis has been working on a new look as he sports a moustache in the opening moments.

He tells his best friend Eric: “I don’t need to know what Maeve is doing any more.”

The trailer also introduces the new headteacher, Hope, who is bound to stir up trouble.
