Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) has been struggling emotionally since the birth of her quads in Coronation Street — something which mum Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) and fiancé Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) have picked up on — and during tonight’s episode, she opened up about what she’s going through, before going to see Dr Gaddas.
During the previous episode, Gemma left the quads on a bus — something which Chesney saw unfold from the kebab shop. He and Paul (Peter Ash) raced into action to save the babies, and successfully managed to do so, but Chesney grew incredibly worried about Gemma afterwards.
He contacted Bernie — having realised that she was right — and during tonight’s episode, the pair of them attempted to get the young woman to open up about her feelings, but she felt unable to do so.
She later spoke to Rita (Barbara Knox) about what she was going through — revealing the she no longer recognises herself, and that she’s had dark thoughts — and Rita was incredibly supportive, and encouraged her to open up to Chesney.
With Rita’s help, Gemma did just that, and — much like Rita had predicted — Chesney was incredibly supportive, and made clear that helping her was his number one priority.
As a result, he took her to see Dr Gaddas, and Gemma began to open up about how she’s been feeling as of late.
Will She get the help she needs?
Coronation Street continues Monday 13 April at 7:30pm on ITV.
