A guilt-ridden Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) makes a huge decision Coronation Street, as he confesses his crimes to Margaret — the mother of the security guard injured in the robbery decades earlier.
With Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) having hit the bottle, Johnny confides in Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) that it’s brought home how he ruined the life of the security guard all those years ago.
Viewers will know that that Johnny recently discovered via Margaret that the guard in question turned to alcohol in his later years, and ultimately died.
Jenny is supportive, but urges him to forget about it. However, Carla Connor (Alison King) soon finds her in tears, and the landlady fills her in on Johnny’s crimes.
Meanwhile, Margaret calls at the Rovers and explains to Jenny that she’s the mother of the security guard who was injured in the hit-and-run.
Therefore, Johnny confesses that he was responsible for her son’s death,
Will Margaret report Johnny to the police?
Jenny begs Margaret not to do so, explaining that her husband suffers from MS.
What happens next remains to be seen, but Carla later finds Jenny in tears once more, and this time, she reveals that Margaret is most likely at the police station.
Tensions escalate throughout the week for Johnny and Jenny, but as they row, they’re interrupted by the arrival of the police.
A policeman then informs Johnny he’s arresting him on suspicion of burglary and GBH.
Will Johnny go to prison?
