Spoilers: Shock coronavirus story for Tina as EastEnders returns

EastEnders star Luisa Bradshaw-White has confirmed that Tina Carter got coronavirus.

The actress — who portrays Tina on the BBC One soap — revealed what’s ahead for her character when the soap returns to screens September 7.

In tonight’s episode (August 24) of Secrets From The Square, Luisa told Stacey Dooley: ‘Tina got coronavirus.

Last we saw Tina, she had moved out of The Queen Vic after Mick and Linda (Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright) decided to sell up and move on to pastures new following Linda’s battle with alcoholism.

One of the several questions fans were left with after the final pre-lockdown episode aired on June 16 was in regards to where Tina was going to live, and Luisa has offered us some insight into where the character ended up amid the pandemic.

The actress said: ‘She was living with Ash and Iqra.

‘I think Tina comes out now thinking “I really want a relationship. I want love.”

‘We start really from there with Tina.’

In additon to discussing what’s ahead, Luisa also reminisced about how she landed the part of Tina back in 2013.

She said: ‘I was doing Holby here [at Elstree], and I left to have my kids.

‘And I decided I wanted to come back here. It’s near where I live, I love the studio. I did Grange Hill here for a lot of years as well. I thought I want to do a long-running drama so that I don’t have to be the actor that’s always out of work.

‘I got called to go in for a part, and when I read the breakdown, I was nothing like it.

‘So I thought, “I’m just going to go in and be myself”.

‘So I sort of went in, and I just said: “Look, I know I’m not going to fit this, but I thought maybe you could find me another part?”

‘And I got on so well with Dom Treadwell-Collins — who was the exec — and we just sat there and sort of created a new part! It was Shirley’s sister, and they offered me the job.’
