Matt Baker is currently presenting The One Show with temporary Irish presenter Angela Scanlon, 35, as his regular co-host Alex is on maternity leave.
The Welsh star, 42, gave birth to a little boy called Kit last month, and shared the news in a phone call into The One Show.
Tonight’s edition saw Matt unable to resist sharing his recent visit with his longtime friend and her baby as the group discussed little ones on set.
Beecham House star Tom Bateman joined comedian Katherine Ryan and Kulvinder Ghir on the BBC sofa.
The group began by talking about a segment about knitting for babies, which saw a prerecorded hospital piece filled with newborns and nurses.
Back in the studio, Angela revealed the team at The One Show have been “very busy twiddling” their needles to make various knitted items, including tiny baby hats.
“Also just that, look at the size of those!” she crooned.
“They’re all good for hats apparently,” Matt chimed in, warning viewers not to send in any options.
“They’ve got plenty of hats,” he repeated, as Angela agreed.
Carrying on with the baby chat, Tom shared a story about what it was like holding a newborn during filming of Beecham House.
I was having a cuddle with Alex’s new son just the other day
“She was obviously dozing away,” he recalled, looking at a sweet picture of him in costume. “And when you get them calm and comfortable you don’t wanna move them.”
“Yes,” Matt nodded, as Tom continued his story.
“So I had to basically walk around um… which is quite lovely,” Tom enthused. “You know walking around India with this little baby sleeping on you and you think ‘This is my job!’”
Unable to resist talking about his co-host on the show, Matt said: “I was having a cuddle with Alex’s new son just the other day, in a very similar situation.
“Aaaaaw…” Angela responded. “[I bet] you literally don’t wanna move.”
“Wasn’t India at the time but anyway!” Matt then joked.
The group also discussed how Katherine’s mum knitted a blanket for her baby the day she was born, and had the studio in giggles at the revelation she and her mum went out to a street party on the same day.
“When you have a baby at 25 you’re up,” Katherine shared.
“That’s amazing,” Angela praised, as Katherine noted she was “ready to go again”.
The One Show continues tomorrow at 7pm on BBC One.
