Strictly Come Dancing has once again proved a tremendous success for the BBC in 2022 with epic performances, hilarious moments and dazzling costumes. Before the year comes to a close, fans will have their last fix of Strictly magic with a one-off festive event. Here’s everything there is to know to watch the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

What time is the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special on?

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 2022 will begin airing at 5.10pm on Christmas Day.

The one-off event will have a running time of one hour and 15 minutes, coming out just before Michael McIntyre’s festive edition of The Wheel.

As with every special, a new line-up of celebrities are welcomed to the dancefloor to show off their moves.

They are paired up with a professional dancer and tasked with performing either a ballroom or Latin routine to a well-known Christmas song.

When the news came out that Mardell was taking part, she couldn’t wait to share her excitement.

She said: “I’ve grown up with Strictly Come Dancing, and my mum always said she’d love to see me on the show so this really is the best Christmas present I could give her.

“I can’t wait to get into the training room and see what festive moves I can bring to the table!”

Whereas Webster, who made history as the first-ever presenter with Downs Syndrome added: “I’m looking forward to being Strictlyfied. Bring on the glitter and everything else.

“I can’t wait to perform on the Strictly dance floor.”

Strictly wouldn’t be the same though without its line-up of critiques sitting in the front row.

Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke will all be back to judge the stars’ festive footwork.

They will be on hand to give their professional opinions as well as their scores.

However, it won’t be up to them to decide who will be crowned this year’s champion.

In the normal Strictly series, celebrities are put through thanks to a combination of the judges’ scores and the public vote.

The festive episode has been pre-recorded so a public vote cannot contribute to the final verdict.

Instead, the live audience at the studio will decide the Christmas winner.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will air at 5.10pm on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
