From 1998-2004, Wesley Snipes starred as the Marvel Comics vampire hunter in his Blade movie trilogy. Since then, the next actor to play the role has been announced for the MCU in Mahershala Ali. After vampires were teased in the Loki Disney+ show, the Oscar-winner’s new take on the character had an off-screen cameo in the post-credits scene of Eternals last month.

The end credits scene saw Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman opening a chest he’d inherited from his ancestor containing the Ebony Blade.

From off-screen Ali’s character is heard asking if the future Black Knight if he’s ready to wield the cursed sword.

The release date is yet to be announced, but the MCU Blade movie is coming and presumably, this new take on the vampire hunter will arrive on-screen sooner rather than later.

Now if a new report is anything to go by, he could well be sharing the screen with his variant played by Snipes once again.

According to Giant Freakin Robot’s trusted and proven sources, Marvel boss Kevin Feige wants Snipes to return as Blade for an upcoming MCU project.

Take this all with a pinch of salt, but it’s certainly within the realm of possibility given that Sony Peter Parker variants played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

And let’s not forget Evan Peters returning as Quicksilver (well sort of) in WandaVision.

Rumours are also rife that former Fox X-Men stars and more are cameoing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so why not Blade too?

And if not in Doctor Strange 2, there’s a lot of speculation that Avengers 5 will be based on the Secret Wars comic book storyline.

The multiverse epic could hypothetically see a stream of superhero variants from across the Disney, Fox and Sony cinematic universes teaming up together, so why not both Blades?

Production on the MCU Blade movie is set to start next summer with Bassam Tariq in the director’s chair.

In the meantime, Marvel Studios have plenty of projects on their plate across cinema and Disney+.
