LINE of Duty has been gripping the nation for five series, with everyone wondering: who on Earth is H?
Although the BBC confirmed that the programme is actually set in an undefined British city, fans are still keen to know where their favourite drama is filmed.
Where is Line of Duty set?
Some canny viewers spotted a map of Bordesley Green, Birmingham, on the walls of the CID.
This led them to assume that the show is set in Birmingham.
The assumption is that the city is somewhere in the Midlands.
We know the show is not set in London, as there is a whole plot point based on the fact that DS Steve Arnott is a Londoner.
Where is Line of Duty filmed?
Series one of the show was shot in and around Birmingham.
The filming included shots of the interior of well-known pub The Queen’s Arms, a quaint grade II listed boozer in Newhall Street, Birmingham.
For series two, three, four and five the cast and crew upped sticks and moved to Belfast.
The credits actually reveal that the series was filmed by BBC Northern Ireland following the move.
Despite the producers being keen to keep the city anonymous, eagle-eyed viewers who know Belfast well may have spotted some of their regular haunts cropping up in the background.
Stephen Graham, who appeared in series 5, joked that he nearly got mistaken as an actual criminal while filming In Belfast.
The actor said: “There was one bit when we’d just committed a robbery and we shot off, and we were actually driving through the streets of Belfast with our balaclavas and machine guns in the car.
"We realised we better get back to set. That was quite funny, but wouldn’t have been too funny if people had seen."
Will there be Line of Duty season 6?
Line of Duty season six got underway in early 2020 but production was suspended as the coronavirus outbreak spread.
A statement said: “In light of the spread of COVID-19, after much considerations @worldprods are suspending filming of #LineofDuty S6 with the support of the BBC. We will keep you updated with further developments in due course.”
In May 2020, creator Jed Mercurio gave an update to fans on The Andrew Marr Show, stating that it was “in doubt” whether Line of Duty would resume filming in 2020.
However, in August 2020, executive producer Simon Heath told RadioTimes that production would restart “soon”.
Mercurio said: “We do [know the date]… There are a few things to figure out, but we’re working towards a day.”
He revealed that the producers are keen to complete filming by Christmas.
