Season three of Yellowstone saw a huge shifting of power after it looked like the entire Dutton family may have been taken out in a carefully coordinated hit. Viewers have been left reeling by a series of attacks on various family members. Now, there has been speculation about who was behind the shocking move which put several lives on the line.
WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Yellowstone season 3
John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) was left for dead by the side of the road following a drive-by shooting.
While his daughter Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) received an explosive device in the post which blew up her building.
To make matters worse, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) found himself locked in a shoot-out with another assailant who turned up at his offices.
All in all, the prognosis wasn’t looking great for these characters with a major shake-up on the horizon.
Additionally, Dutton associate Jimmy Hurdstram (Jefferson White) was also in a bad way after being thrown from a horse.
Amid the chaos, ranch handler Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) was trying to save the family he loved so dearly.
However, he found no help from Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), who advised him not to call anymore.
While the finger of suspicion appears to be pointing towards Jamie, perhaps he is too obvious to be the culprit.
Jamie had his reasons to want to bump off the family, particularly after learning he was adopted but perhaps this would be too easy.
One person who could be the perpetrator is the mysterious Angela Blue Thunder (Q’orianka Kilcher), an attorney representing Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham).
The Native American lawyer seemed to be forming an alliance with the Duttons to stop others from seizing the lucrative ranch land.
But in private, she made it clear she really wanted to take back the land from the Duttons and give it to her people.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Kilcher teased how her character could be complicit in the attack on the Duttons.
The star said: “She’s kind of playing two sides. So, while she is partnering up beyond just helping the Dutton family keep their land, she wants the land back for her people because this is actually their ancestral territory. This is their land.
“She also has her own agenda. There’s always something below the surface that’s there.”
In the show, Angela even tells Thomas to kill them and take the land back for themselves – a sign she is willing to get her hands dirty.
While co-star Birmingham said: “You don’t know what to expect because you’ve got so many personalities and individuals.”
Whether Angela could have organised the hit in such a short space of time remains questionable but not impossible.
Since she’s supposedly working with the Duttons, she would be likely to know about their movements and whereabouts, making it easier to take them down.
There are some other suspects though including Roarke Morris (Josh Holloway), who would probably also resort to dirty tactics if necessary.
