Amazon UK depot evacuated over ‘suspicious package’ as bomb squad rushes in

Cops have descended on a UK Amazon warehouse after a “suspicious package” was found.

Footage shows scores of officers and police vehicles at the scene in Dunfermline, Scotland.

And a bomb squad is understood to be en route as specialist officers will examine the threatening object.

Police rushed to the storage facility in Dunfermline at around 5.30pm today and cleared the building, The Daily Record reports.

Roads blocks have been put in place around the area as emergency services wait for a specialist bomb disposal teams to arrive.

Workers have been told that their night shift has been cancelled, according to witness accounts.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland told The Daily Record: "Around 5.30pm police received a report of a suspicious package found within the Amazon depot in Dunfermline.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the building has been evacuated, and a cordon put in place.

"EOD will attend to inspect the package and enquiries are ongoing."

Amazon has been contacted for comment by Daily Star Online.

The depot in Scotland is one of the biggest Amazon warehouses in the UK.
