A couple who were staying at a Florida campsite believes they may have pictured fugitive Brian Laundrie in the background of their selfie – days before his fiancée Gabby Petito was reported missing.
The development comes after Brian Laundrie's attorney confirmed that he and his parents stayed at the Fort De Soto Park on September 6.
Holidaygoers Marci and Kenny Newsom were staying at the campground in Pinellas County, Florida and believe that they captured the missing man in a photo they took.
Marci Newsom told NBC2: "Apparently, they were at the campground when we were there, and they were right next to us.
"In the background, there's a guy walking across the field."
While it hasn't been confirmed whether it was definitely Mr Laundrie in the photograph, Ms Newsom said the family kept to themselves throughout their stay.
"They were there, and then they weren't," she added.
Kenny Newsom said he found it "very strange" that Laundrie would be camping with his family while his fiancée was missing.

"If somebody I knew was missing, I wouldn't be going camping," Mr Newsom said.
YouTuber Gabby, 22, was reported missing on September 11 after she and Laundrie set out from New York on a cross-country road trip in her white van two months earlier.
The 22-year-old's body was discovered in Wyoming on September 18 which sparked a huge manhunt to locate Laundrie who is the prime suspect.
Search and rescue expert Mike Hadsell claims that the search for the fugitive in the Carlton Reserve has reportedly cost an estimated $1.2 million.
He went on to say that Laundries family could be made to pay the bill if they lied to the police.
He told the DailyMail: “I can accurately estimate they are spending $200,000 a day on this search.
“And if this thing turns out to be bogus and they can prove that the family misled law enforcement on this, the parents will get a bill.”
