ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo said Friday he’s just a mellow, happy-go-lucky guy.
Cuomo, who has a well-earned reputation as a political gladiator and arm-twister, said on WAMC’s the Roundtable, “I think I’m sort of a laid back, cool dude in a loose mood.”
But Cuomo, who earlier this week publicly rapped lawmakers by name for not backing his pet progressive proposals during the final leg of the legislative session and even brought up the topic of them facing primaries, acknowledged the self portrayal of being chill is a tough sell.
“Some people would say I’m aggressive,” he said.
Cuomo also told his daughter last week in an Instagram video that he has a “soft smile” because he has a “soft, warm heart.”
The end of the legislative is coming down to the wire with just four days to go, and several issues are still on the table: legalizing recreational marijuana, driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants, prevailing wage, among others.
Cuomo said a lot has been accomplished in Albany this year, but more needs to get done.
“That’s me and that’s my aggressive personality and it’s never enough, it’s never enough and we have another day to do more good, so strive to do more good.”
