Dr Pimple Popper removes 'biggest pilar cyst' she's ever seen as giant lump oozes golden pus

AS WORLD-renowned dermatologist, Dr Pimple Popper has certainly seen her fair share of gross lumps and bumps.

But when 67-year-old Dennis walked into her clinic to have a giant cyst on the back of his head removed, even she was shocked.

Checking him over in the latest episode of her TLC show, the medic – whose real name is Dr Sandra Lee – says: "If this is a pilar cyst, it's the most giant pilar cyst I have ever seen."

Dennis, from Wyandotte, Michigan, has been putting up with the growths all over his head for two decades.

But the one right at the back of his head has grown so large it has meant he has had to put his love of motorcycling on hold – because he can't get his helmet on.

Even lying down to sleep is painful – but Dennis' fear of doctors has stopped him from going to see one regularly.

It has left his wife Donna scared she might lose him if he doesn't do something about the cysts.

Through tears, she told him: "We've been together 32 year. I couldn't imagine life without you. He's been with me over half my life, he is my life."

What is a Pilar cyst?

Pilar cysts are flesh-colored bumps that can develop on the surface of the skin.

They’re sometimes called trichilemmal cysts or wens and are benign cysts, meaning they typically aren’t cancerous.

Although 90 percent of pilar cysts occur on the scalp in the lining of hair follicles, they can develop anywhere on the body.

These types of cysts can range in size – some can be the size of a quarter, and others can grow to the size of a small ball.

They’re also round in shape, sometimes creating a dome-like bump on the surface of your skin.

Pilar cysts may be hereditary – they're also more common in middle-aged women.

The cysts are usually harmless, but some people consider surgical removal for cosmetic reasons.

He finally made the decision to do something about the growths and went to see Dr Lee at her clinic.

When she gets to meet him in person, she is clearly surprised by their size and tells Dennis his biggest lump is the largest nodule she has seen.

She nicknames it a "water balloon cyst" because of the liquid inflating in it and he shows her how incredibly, it is so buoyant it can be jiggled.

In the operating room, Dr Lee has to be careful when extracting the growths as the are located on his scalp.

She carefully cuts the biggest one open which causes the cyst inside to burst out its yellow contents.

Dr Lee squeals: “Look, it’s like gold! Look at it!”

Dennis' wife, who was in the operating theatre to comfort him, looked delighted at the pus oozing out.

Popping another cyst, Dr Lee described the contents as an "old egg salad", as the yellow pus came trickling out.

But her assistant said it looked more like "honey mustard".

After cleaning up the mess and tying off some blood vessels, the doc stitches Dennis back together.

She tells him she will see him in a couple of days to remove the remaining three bumps.

Hopefully once Dennis is all recovered he will be able to get back on his motorcycle with his helmet safely in place.

Last week, Dr Pimple Popper kicked off season five of her hit series with one of her most stomach-churning cyst removals yet.

She was visited at her clinic by 32-year-old Juan, from Texas, whose body was covered in golf ball-sized boils.

As she squeezed them the pus inside came oozing out "like mashed potato" – to all pimple popping fans' delight.
